Siwa is a market center of Phidim Municipality in Panchthar District in the Mechi Zone in eastern Nepal. It was annexed to Phidim on 18 May 2014 to form the municipality. [1] [2] At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 3970. [3]

Phidim Municipality is the headquarters of the Panchthar District in the Mechi Zone of eastern Nepal. Phidim was upgraded into 'municipality' from 'village' when a development committee merged with other vdcs - including Phidim, Chokmagu and Siwa villages - on 18 May 2014. It serves as a route for trekkers and locals who travel to and from the Taplejung district bordering with the Tibetan Autonomous Region of China. It is also a commercial hub for the rural people of the district.

It lies on the bank of Sani Bheri River. At the time of the 2011 Nepal census it had a population of 32,939 people living in 7,307 individual households. Musikot was formerly called Musikot Khalanga and served as the district headquarter of Rukum District.
