Camper Van Beethoven is an American rock band formed in Redlands, California in 1983, later based in Santa Cruz and San Francisco. Their style mixes elements of pop, ska, punk, folk, alternative, country, and world music, amongst other genres. The band initially polarized audiences within the hardcore punk scene of California's Inland Empire and then found wider acceptance and, eventually, an international audience. Their strong iconoclasm and emphasis on do-it-yourself values proved influential to the burgeoning indie rock movement.
The Black Crowes are an American rock band formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1984. Their discography includes eight studio albums, four live albums and several charting singles. The band was signed to Def American Recordings in 1989 by producer George Drakoulias and released their debut album, Shake Your Money Maker, the following year. Their follow-up, The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion, reached the top of the Billboard 200 in 1992. The albums Amorica (1994), Three Snakes and One Charm (1996), By Your Side (1999), and Lions (2001) followed, with each showing moderate popularity but failing to capture the chart successes of the band's first two albums. After a hiatus from 2002 to 2005, the band regrouped and toured for several years before releasing Warpaint in 2008, which reached number 5 on the Billboard chart.
The Killers are an American rock band formed in Las Vegas in 2001 by Brandon Flowers and Dave Keuning. After going through a number of short-term bass players and drummers in their early days, both Mark Stoermer and Ronnie Vannucci Jr. joined the band in 2002. The band's name is derived from a logo on the bass drum of a fictitious band portrayed in the music video for the New Order song "Crystal".

Steven James Hewitt is an English musician, singer-songwriter and record producer. He is the frontman of his own band, Love Amongst Ruin. Hewitt is best known for his tenure as the drummer for Placebo between September 1996 and October 2007. He plays drums and guitar left-handed.
Samson were a British heavy metal band formed in 1977 by guitarist and vocalist Paul Samson. They are best known for their first three albums with future Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson, then known as "Bruce Bruce", and drummer Thunderstick, who wore a leather mask and performed on stage in a metal cage. Drummer Clive Burr was also a member of the band, both before and after his tenure with Iron Maiden. Dickinson's replacement on vocals, Nicky Moore, performed with Samson throughout the mid-1980s and again from the late 1990s onwards. Samson were a part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal.
The Almighty are a Scottish hard rock/heavy metal band from Glasgow formed in 1988. Three of the founding members, Ricky Warwick, Stump Monroe and Floyd London were friends who met at school. Although the band members musical roots were in punk, the Almighty adopted a more heavy metal/hard rock oriented musical direction in their early years. Later albums saw the band's musical style move towards the band members' original punk roots.
The Way I Feel Today is the third album by English indie rock band Six by Seven. It was released in 2002 on Beggars Banquet Records in the UK and Mantra Recordings in the US. The band's first album as a four-piece following the departure of guitarist Sam Hempton, it showcased what was in part more song-based, commercial approach following the building, atmospheric drone rock of previous albums The Things We Make and The Closer You Get. It includes the single "I.O.U. Love", possibly the band's most pop-orientated to date.

The Things We Make is the debut album by English indie rock band Six by Seven. The album included the single "European Me", described by the NME as "one of the greatest debut singles of all time". The album featured numerous 'epic' tracks with "Oh! Dear", "European Me" and "88-92-96" all clocking in at almost seven minutes or more and "Spy Song" reaching almost nine minutes. Aside from "European Me", "88-92-96", "Candlelight" and "For You" were released as singles, with "Candlelight" reaching the lower regions of the singles charts. The album was ranked 13th in NME's end-of-year poll for 1998.

Club Sandwich at the Peveril Hotel was the final release by Six by Seven, made after the group disbanded. Following the split in late 2005, 3 original members of the band formed a new band with two additional members, with the hope of developing a new sound. Understandably, the sessions ended up sounding like Six by Seven, and so the recordings were released under that moniker.
Chris Olley is a Nottingham based musician and photographer. He was the lead singer and guitarist for Six By Seven and also the band's main creative influence. He studied art at Wakefield College (1990–91) and gained a BA (Hons) in photography at Nottingham Trent University (1991–94). It was during his time at University that Olley met Sam Hempton and together they formed six.byseven.
The Bicycle Thief is an American alternative rock band fronted by Bob Forrest. After a break from the music industry after the demise of his previous band, Thelonious Monster, Forrest started jamming with Josh Klinghoffer and in 1997 they played a covers gig and Forrest started recording demos on a four-track. After Goldenvoice's Paul Tollett offered him a deal he and Klinghoffer recorded The Bicycle Thief's debut, joined on the album by Kevin Fitzgerald. This was Klinghoffer's first recording experience and he contributed guitars, keyboards, and on some tracks the drums.
