Sleeper's College (sometimes referred to as Sleeper's Business College) was a college founded by Josiah Sleeper in Chester, Pennsylvania, in 1910. In 1971, the college moved a few miles to 2800 Edgmont Avenue in Parkside, Pennsylvania, where it operated until 1989. [1]
A photo, apparently an advertisement, of "Scholars On A Frosty Morning" in front of the original building at 625 Welsh Street describes the college as a "Leading Institution For Office and Commercial Training." [2]
The 1944 "Chester Times" yearbook, p. 94, said:
The Sleeper's Business College, located in its own building at 625 Welsh St, Chester, was planned for educational purposes. The school offers secretarial and accounting courses to young men and women, and the curriculum of the public school is open to both young and old. The method of individual instruction is particularly adapted for the backward pupil. [1]
In the 1950s, the ground floor of 625 Welsh was occupied by the Welsh Restaurant, a diner-style restaurant. [3] The building was razed in May 2013. (Location: 39°51′03″N75°21′37″W / 39.8507°N 75.3603°W )

Strasburg Road was an early road in Pennsylvania connecting Philadelphia to Strasburg in Lancaster County. The route was surveyed by John Sellers and others in 1772-3 under the colonial administration of Governor Richard Penn and completed under the new administration of the independent state of Pennsylvania. The route started at the "second ferry" on the Schuylkill River, today's Market Street in Philadelphia, and went through West Chester, East Fallowfield Township, and Gap, before ending in Strasburg. Earlier roads travelled much the same route, including a Native American path in use as early as 1620.
Chester Assembly is a former Ford manufacturing plant in Chester, Pennsylvania. It was located at Front & Lloyd Streets and occupied over 50 acres when it was open, and occupied the former Roach's Shipyard and Merchant Shipbuilding Corporation on Front Street from Fulton to Pennell streets. The factory began operations in August 1927 building the Ford Model A and was closed in February 1961, and operations were transferred to Mahwah, New Jersey. The physical address is now known as 800 W. Front St. and is divided into several businesses. Predominantly, GWSI, M&M Industries, and Dee Paper Co. The rail lines are still in use and terminate under an awning structure within the area of the old assembly area.

The Third Presbyterian Church was a historic Presbyterian Church founded in 1872 in Chester, Pennsylvania. It was located at 9th and Potter Streets. The church was the location of the first summer bible school in 1912. The congregation closed in 1986 and was thereafter owned by the Chester Historical Preservation Committee. It was a stone Gothic Revival building designed by the noted Philadelphia architect Isaac Pursell. The church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in November 2019 but severely damaged by a five-alarm fire on May 28, 2020.
