Sleepy Little Deathtoll Town is the first EP from The Panda Band, released in 2005. The name of the title track is a reference to their home town. "Sleepy Little Deathtoll Town" reached #73 on Triple J's Hottest 100 for 2004 and also won the WAM Song of the Year in 2006, winning 'Pop' category. "Then You Appear" winning the 'Mixed Bag' category in the same year. "Eyelashes" and "Sleepy Little Deathtoll Town" both received significant airplay on national youth broadcaster, Triple J and community radio across Australia.

Sleepy Little Deathtoll Town also found its way onto airwaves in the United Kingdom through John Kennedy at XFM and Jane Gazzo at BBC6. XFM also had the band stop by the studio while they were in London in October 2005 to play a few songs from the EP for broadcast on Kennedy’s nightly radio program, Xposure.

The band revolves around the distinctive vocal style of multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Luke Steele. Stemming from a musical family, Luke's father Rick Steele is a local blues musician, and two of Luke's siblings are also musicians, with brother Jesse a former member of The Sleepy Jackson, and sister Katy, who fronts another Perth rock band, Little Birdy. While a series of acclaimed EPs brought The Sleepy Jackson to a broader musical attention of Australia, it was the release of their 2003 album Lovers and 2006 second album Personality – One Was a Spider, One Was a Bird that directed significant international focus upon the band.

Lauren Laverne English radio DJ, model, television presenter

Lauren Cecilia Fisher, known professionally as Lauren Laverne, is an English radio DJ, model, television presenter, author and singer. She was the lead singer and additional guitarist in the rock band Kenickie. Kenickie's album At The Club reached the top 10, although her greatest chart success came when she performed vocals on Mint Royale's single "Don't Falter". Laverne has presented numerous television programmes, including 10 O'Clock Live for Channel 4, and The Culture Show and coverage of the Glastonbury Festival for the BBC. She has also written a published novel entitled Candypop: Candy and the Broken Biscuits. She presents the breakfast show on BBC Radio 6 Music.

Radio X is a British National commercial radio station focused on alternative music, primarily indie rock, and owned by Global. Radio X launched nationally on 21 September 2015 as a rebrand of Xfm and superseded Xfm London and Xfm Manchester.

End of Fashion

End of Fashion are an Australian pop rock band from Perth, Western Australia. In January 2014, the band took a hiatus, with former lead singer and guitarist Justin Burford explaining in a Facebook post: "Triple J [national Australian radio station] ended the career path of End of Fashion, no question." The group gained mainstream attention with its 2005 single, "O Yeah", that was voted into eighth position of the "Hottest 100" poll, compiled by Australian youth radio station, Triple J. The group has released three studio albums. The band performed their first show since their long-term hiatus on 22 September 2018 at the Indian Ocean Hotel in Scarborough.

This Vital Chapter is the first album from The Panda Band, released in Australia on 8 May 2006 and in the United States on 12 September 2006 - subtitled 'We're Almost Not Even Here'. The album features new recordings of radio favourites "Sleepy Little Deathtoll Town", "Eyelashes" and the most recent "Ghosts Have The Best Time". The US release, under the Filter US Recordings label, provided a different track listing to the Australian release.

In November 2011, the band was signed by Albert Productions, but moved to Island Records for the release of its debut album. In October 2012, the band described its 'vibe' as "squelchy, crispy, streamlined, hairy, indie". At the ARIA Music Awards of 2013 the group were nominated for Best Independent Release and Best Dance Release for the album; and Best Video for "Fred Astaire", which was directed by Andrew Nowrojee.
