The Smita Patil Memorial Award for Best Actress is an honour established in 1986 by the Priyadarshni Academy in memory of actress Smita Patil. It is awarded every other year to an Indian actress for her contribution to Indian cinema in the period prior to the ceremony, irrespective of a particular performance.

Controversy

The choice of Katrina Kaif, who is not renowned for her acting abilities, for the award in 2016 met with wide criticism by both the press and the public on social networks. [27] Columnist Sneha Bengani described her selection as "a grave insult to Patil" and further wrote that it "mocks all the previous recipients". [33] Others defended the choice. [34]

"Sheila Ki Jawani" is an Indian Hindi-language song sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and Vishal Dadlani, featuring Katrina Kaif along with Akshay Kumar in the 2010 Bollywood film Tees Maar Khan. The music was composed by composer duo Vishal–Shekhar and the lyrics were penned by Dadlani. The moves were choreographed by choreographer-director Farah Khan, who went on to win the Filmfare award for best choreography for the film.

Bang Bang! is a 2014 Indian Hindi-language action comedy film directed by Siddharth Anand and produced by Parth Arora of Star Studios. The film is an official remake of the 2010 American film Knight and Day and stars Hrithik Roshan, Katrina Kaif, Javed Jaffrey, and Pavan Malhotra. In the film, a mysterious thief encounters with an unassuming bank receptionist, which sets off a chain of events resulting in a series of escapades.

<i>Sooryavanshi</i> 2021 Indian Hindi-language action film

Sooryavanshi is a 2021 Indian Hindi-language action film written and directed by Rohit Shetty and produced by Reliance Entertainment, Rohit Shetty Picturez, Dharma Productions and Cape of Good Films. The fourth instalment of the Cop Universe, it stars Akshay Kumar in the title role, opposite Katrina Kaif. Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh also return as Singham and Simmba in cameo roles. Jackie Shroff, Gulshan Grover, Nikitin Dheer, Sikandar Kher, Abhimanyu Singh and Kumud Mishra play the antagonists, while Jaaved Jaaferi, Vivan Bhatena and Niharica Raizada appear in supporting roles. Kumar's character was announced towards the end of Simmba (2018) that served as a character introduction.

Bang Bang! is the soundtrack to the 2014 film of the same name directed by Siddharth Anand starring Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif. Produced by Fox Star Studios, the film is an adaptation of the American film Knight and Day (2010). The film's musical score is composed by Salim–Sulaiman, while the five-song soundtrack accompanying the film is composed by the duo Vishal–Shekhar and lyrics written by Vishal Dadlani, Anvita Dutt and Kumaar. The soundtrack to the film was released by Zee Music Company on 12 September 2014.
