The Smyrne Cassaba & Prolongements (English:Smyrna Cassaba & Prolongations), formerly The Smyrna Cassaba Railway, was a railway company operating in Western Anatolia from 1863 to 1934.
The Ottoman Government gave a concession to build a railway from İzmir to Cassaba on July 4, 1863. The concession was awarded to an English company "The Smyrna Cassaba Railway". The railway chose to have their terminus closer to İzmir's city center. Construction began ın 1864. The rail line opened to Manisa on October 10, 1865 and to Cassaba on January 10, 1866. The SCR then built a line to Bornova (splitting from the main line at Halkapınar), which opened on October 25, 1866. They were going to extend the line to Cassaba, but the SCR went bankrupt during the stock market crash in 1866. The SCR recovered after a second concession to Alaşehir. SCR completed the line to Alaşehir in 1875, however the construction was funded by the Ottoman Government. A third concession was awarded to the SCR in 1887 to build a branch to Soma from Manisa. This was completed in 1890 but the Ottoman Government once again financed the construction. The Ottoman Government always in need of finance decided to rationalize the structure of the Smyrna Cassaba Railway. It exercised its right to purchase the concession and the part of the line it not already owned. The concession was then sold to Georges Nagelmackers, the founder the International Sleeping Car Company on February 17, 1893. The railway operation was transferred on 12 July 1893 to a new French company, the "Société Ottomane du Chemin de fer de Smyrne-Cassaba et Prolongements" (SCP), which was founded on July 16, 1893. The SCP received a concession to build from Alaşehir to Afyon. The SCP made an agreement with the Central Railway of Anatolia (CFOA) to connect the SCP's line with theirs at Afyon. The line to Afyon was completed in 1899. The SCP continued the line from Soma to Bandırma, which was completed in 1912. This became the shortest route between İzmir and İstanbul via ferry connection at Bandırma. After the Republic of Turkey was formed in 1923, Turkey has nationalized all railways in the country, thus the SCP was taken over by the Turkish State Railways in 1934.

Menemen railway station is a railway station at Menemen in Izmir Province, Turkey. The station is served by the Turkish State Railways, the national rail carrier of Turkey. The station is serviced by six trains daily. Northbound trains go to either Bandırma, Ankara, Afyon or Uşak and southbound trains all go to Alsancak Terminal in İzmir. North of the station, the double track branch line to Aliağa splits from the main line. The original station was built in 1866 by the Smyrna Cassaba Railway.

Basmane railway station is an intercity and regional railway terminal and rapid transit station in İzmir, Turkey. Along with Alsancak station, Basmane is one of two railway terminals in the city. All TCDD Taşımacılık trains terminate at this station, with intercity service to Ankara, Bandırma and Konya as well as regional service to Denizli, Söke, Tire and Ödemiş. The name originated from the Turkish phrase Basma hane.
The Bornova Railway Branch was a 5.9 km long railway line, from Halkapınar to Bornova, Turkey, that branched from the SCP's main line at Halkapınar. The line was completed by the Smyrne Cassaba & Prolongements in 1866. TCDD absorbed the SCP on June 1, 1934 and took over ownership of the line. Usage decreased in the 1970s and the line was abandoned in the early 1990s. This line is now a part of the Izmir Metro.
The Ottoman Railway Company, commonly referred to as the İzmir–Aydın Railway, is the oldest railway in Anatolia and second oldest railway in the Ottoman Empire. The railway was built by a British company to transport mineral and fruit from the Aydın plain to the Port of İzmir to be exported.

District 3 of the Turkish State Railways is one of TCDD's 7 districts. The district was formed in 1950, when TCDD split into its original 5 districts. District 3 has three main lines, all starting in İzmir. The İzmir-Bandırma Line, the İzmir-Uşak Line and the İzmir-Denizli Line. There are many branch lines along these lines. District 3 headquarters are located in Alsancak Terminal in İzmir. Major cities such as İzmir, Manisa, Balıkesir, Bandırma, Aydın and Uşak are served.
The Konya Blue Train, previously referred to as the Mevlana Express is an overnight intercity train operating between İzmir and Konya since 16 August 2012. The inaugural train will departed Alsancak Terminal in İzmir at 8:00pm (EEST) after an opening ceremony which the minister of transport, Binali Yıldırım will attend. The train follows the former Smyrna Cassaba Railway's mainline to Afyon passing through Manisa, Alaşehir, Uşak, Afyon and Konya. The Konya Blue Train is the first train service to operate east of Uşak, to Afyon, since the cancellation of the İzmir-Diyarbakır Postal Train several years ago.
The Izmir–Afyon railway is a mostly single-track railway in the Aegean Region of Turkey, connecting Afyonkarahisar to the port city of Izmir. The railway is the main freight and passenger train route from the Aegean region to Central Anatolia. It was built between 1865–90 by the Smyrna Cassaba Railway and is the second oldest railway in Turkey. Today the line is owned by the Turkish State Railways.
Demirspor clubs in Turkey are founded by the employees of the Turkish Railways (TCDD), similar to the Lokomotiv sports clubs of Eastern Europe. Most Demirspor clubs have jersey colours blue and navy, and bear the TCDD symbol on their logo. Just east of the station is a junction, where trains to Bandırma and Balıkesir split from the railway and head north. Manisa station was opened on 10 October 1865 by the Smyrna Cassaba Railway.
The Menemen Gediz Bridge, also known as the Old Gediz Bridge, officially named the Governor Kâzım Dirik Bridge and historically called the Buruncuk Bridge, is a 156.6 m (514 ft) long bowstring-arch bridge that crosses the Gediz River near Menemen, Turkey. Completed in 1935, the bridge was one of the first five reinforced concrete bridges built by the Republic of Turkey.
