Shawn Boyer launched Snagajob.com out of his home in Washington, D.C., and served as Snagajob's CEO from the website's launch in early 2000 to 2013. [2]

In June 2016, Snagajob acquired PeopleMatter, a company that develops and provides software tools that help employers manage their workforce. [4]
In 2017, Snagajob launched a shift-specific app focused on hourly jobs in central Virginia. The app was originally call HUSL.
