Soberbo River (Portuguese : Rio Soberbo) is the river that cuts off the city of Guapimirim in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
Portuguese is a Western Romance language originating in the Iberian Peninsula. It is the sole official language of Portugal, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe. It also has co-official language status in East Timor, Equatorial Guinea and Macau in China. Guapimirim, is a city in the Rio de Janeiro Metropolitan Area, and a municipality located in Rio de Janeiro state, southeastern Brazil.

On rainy days on the top of the mountain range, the river will often fill up and cause the phenomenon known as "waterspouts" or "heads of water". Several people have died with this phenomenon, [1] [2] because the rain clouds at the top of the mountain are sometimes seen by bathers who are caught in surprise.
A waterspout is an intense columnar vortex that occurs over a body of water. Some are connected to a cumulus congestus cloud, some to a cumuliform cloud and some to a cumulonimbus cloud. In the common form, it is a non-supercell tornado over water.
