Sohanlal.P.S (born 18 December 1978), better known by his screen name Sohan Seenulal, is an Indian film director, screen writer, and actor who works in Malayalam cinema . [1] He is known for his character roles in Mammootty films.

Career

He started his career as a child artist in Kabuliwala (1994) directed by Siddique-Lal. [2] Later he joined as assistant directors to Shafi in starting from One Man Show (2001) . [3] [4] And he continued his career as an assistant director till 2008. [5] In 2008 he was an assistant director on Prithviraj Sukumaran's Lollipop (film). [6]

In 2011, Seenulal debuted as a director with the film Doubles, which starred Mammootty. [7] In 2016, he directed Vanyam with Aparna Nair in lead. His upcoming directorial is Unlocked, starring Chemban Vinod Jose, Mamtha Mohandas and Sreenath Bhasi lead roles.

Sohan Seenulal debuted in acting with a police role as Madhu in Nivin Pauly's, Action Hero Biju directed by Abrid Shine. [8] Sohan Seenulal's short film “Cupid” got best second short film award in indiavision short film fest . Sohan got best screen writer award in this short film at this first ala short film festival. [9] And his film Vanyam got best director award in shanthadevi puraskaram Kozhikode. [10]

Doubles is a 2011 Malayalam-language action comedy drama film directed by debutant Sohan Seenulal and written by the Sachi-Sethu duo. It stars Mammootty, Nadia Moidu and Taapsee Pannu, with Saiju Kurup, Anoop Chandran, Bijukuttan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Anandaraj, Suresh and Avinash in other roles. It also features Roma and Rima Kallingal in cameo roles, and music by James Vasanthan. The film marks the debuts of Taapsee Pannu and Avinash in Malayalam cinema. The film released coinciding with the festival of Vishu on 14 April 2011. Doubles is a story of two siblings who rescue victims of road accidents.

Vanyam is a 2016 Malayalam language film produced by P.S. Nagaraj. The film stars Aparna Nair in the lead role along with Anoop Ramesh, Vishnu Unnikrishnan, Sumith Samudra, Pauly Valsan and Omana Ouseph. The film is directed by Sohan Seenulal. The music is composed by Sejo John. The screenplay is based on a story written by Sohan Seenulal. The film attracted controversy when a real nun was raped in North India at the time the film was being shot.

Unda (transl. Bullet) is a 2019 Indian Malayalam-language black comedy film directed by Khalid Rahman and scripted by Harshad from Rahman's story. Krishnan Sethukumar produced the film under the banners of Moviee Mill and Gemini Studios. The film stars Mammootty, Shine Tom Chacko, Jacob Gregory and Arjun Ashokan. The story is based on a real incident that occurred at the time of the 2014 Lok Sabha election, when a police unit from Kerala was sent to a Maoist affected area of Chhattisgarh as part of election duty. Sajith Purushan was the film's cinematographer, and its soundtrack and score were composed by Prashant Pillai.
