Soiled is an English experimental, electro-minimal cinematographic music project, created in 2002 by Marcus H. He has released five albums, numerous EPs, collaborations and compilation tracks.
Marcus H is originally from Bristol having played in bands, most notably Kubrick (1990–1996). [1]
Since 2003, Marcus H has used an internet approach to the promotion of his music project Soiled. Releasing music via Elm Lodge Records, Bizarre, Electronic Musik, Dirty Patches. His music has featured on US College Radio Kalx, [2] Huw Stephens' BBC Radio 1 show, [3] BBC Radio 6 Music Freakzone and BBC Radio Tees celebration of The Beatles album Revolver , where he covered "Yellow Submarine". [4]
In 2012, Marcus H participated in a split album release with Mike Bryson from Bogshed called Vier Mit Vier, released on Marcus H's own label Elm Lodge Records.
His track "Autumn in Flashbacks" which features on his 2014 album Splices and Phases was included by Mojo (issue 254) on its playlist. [5] Mojo described Marcus H as a dark ambient maestro. The album also featured in The Quietus .
In 2017, he released his fifth album, Phonic Grafts, described in Electronic Sound Magazine as "File next to KLF 'Chill out' & Global Comms '76.14', yup, its that good!". [6]
Boards of Canada are a Scottish electronic music duo consisting of brothers Michael Sandison and Marcus Eoin. Signing to Skam and then Warp Records in the 1990s, the duo received recognition following the release of their debut album Music Has the Right to Children in 1998. Their subsequent albums, Geogaddi (2002), The Campfire Headphase (2005) and Tomorrow's Harvest (2013), have received critical praise. They have remained reclusive, rarely giving interviews or performing live.
Autobahn is the fourth studio album by German electronic band Kraftwerk, released in November 1974. It was the band's first album to fully embrace the repetitive electronic sound they would become known for and was inspired by the titular German motorway system.
Delia Ann Derbyshire was an English musician and composer of electronic music. She carried out pioneering work with the BBC Radiophonic Workshop during the 1960s, including her electronic arrangement of the theme music to the British science-fiction television series Doctor Who. She has been referred to as "the unsung heroine of British electronic music", having influenced musicians including Aphex Twin, the Chemical Brothers and Paul Hartnoll of Orbital.
Heavenly Recordings is a London-based independent record label founded by Jeff Barrett in 1990. Heavenly released the first albums from Saint Etienne, Beth Orton and Doves, and early singles by Manic Street Preachers. Current Heavenly artists include Stealing Sheep, Mattiel, The Orielles, Confidence Man, audiobooks, Pip Blom, H. Hawkline, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Gwenno Saunders, Amber Arcades, Working Men's Club, Katy J Pearson and CHAI.
Sound Affects is the fifth studio album by English rock band the Jam. The album was released on 28 November 1980 by Polydor Records. It is the only Jam album to be co-produced by the band themselves, and contains the only album track co-written by the entire band, "Music for the Last Couple".

Architecture & Morality is the third studio album by English electronic band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD), released on 6 November 1981 by Dindisc. Inspired by religious music, the band sought to broaden their musical palette by utilising elaborate choral samples, the Mellotron, and other new instruments to create a more naturalistic, emotive sound. The artwork was designed by longtime OMD collaborator Peter Saville, along with Brett Wickens, while its title was derived from the book Morality and Architecture by David Watkin.
Christopher Richard Watson is an English musician and sound recordist specialising in natural history. He was a founding member of the musical group Cabaret Voltaire, and Watson's work as a wildlife sound recordist has covered television documentaries and experimental musical collaborations.
Sarah Joyce, better known by her stage name, Rumer, is a Pakistani-born British singer-songwriter. Supported by leading music industry figures including Burt Bacharach, Elton John, Carly Simon, and Jools Holland, Rumer was nominated for two Brit awards on 13 January 2011. Her debut album, Seasons of My Soul, released in 2010, peaked on the UK Charts at #3, was certified platinum in 2013 having sold over one million copies, and was listed at #26 in the Official Top 40 Biggest Debut Albums of the Decade in 2019. Rumer's voice has been described by The Guardian and many others as being reminiscent of Karen Carpenter. Her stage name was inspired by the author Rumer Godden. Boys Don't Cry, released in 2012, peaked on the UK Charts at #3. She has performed at several festivals such as Glastonbury Festival. Her album This Girl's in Love was released in November 2016. In August 2020, she released her fifth album, Nashville Tears .
Brainlove Records is a British independent record label with a DIY ethic, based in London, England. The label releases experimental indie, pop and electronic music.
Credo is the ninth studio album by The Human League, released in 2011. It was their first studio album since Secrets in 2001. It was produced by fellow Sheffield act I Monster and released on Wall of Sound.
John Foxx and the Maths is a musical project featuring electronic music pioneer John Foxx and Benge. The duo were initially a studio based project working from Benge's studio in Shoreditch, London but have also engaged in live work. Hannah Peel has been credited as a member on several of the later releases. The group specialises in the use of analogue synthesizers and drum machines and has to date released several full studio albums, singles and live recordings.
Becky Jones, better known as Saint Saviour, is an English musician from Stockton-On-Tees. Formerly of the electro band The RGBs, she toured with Groove Armada as their lead singer between 2009 and 2012, whilst also producing her own solo music as Saint Saviour from 2010. After releasing two EPs, her debut album Union came out in June 2012. Her song "This Ain't No Hymn" then appeared in the 2012 trailer for the film Miss Bala.
Gallops are a British experimental rock and electronica band from Wrexham, Wales, that formed in 2007. They split-up in 2013 and reformed in 2016.
If You Leave is the debut album by Daughter released under 4AD on 18 March 2013. In anticipation of the album, a music video for the promotional single "Still" was released on 24 January 2013. It was directed by Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard.
Trwbador were a Welsh duo who occupied a place in the musical landscape between folk and techno. The two-piece resided in Carmarthenshire, although they began working together while at University in Newport. Trwbador's original sound has established them as a forerunner of the Welsh music scene.
Grasscut are a musical group featuring composer/producer Andrew Phillips and musician/writer Marcus O'Dair. Phillips writes and produces all Grasscut music; he also sings and plays various instruments including guitar and keyboards. O'Dair manages the act and contributes keyboards and double bass. They are based in Brighton, England.
The Pre New are an English electronic band formed in 2010 in London, England. The group is notable for including former members of both World of Twist and Earl Brutus.
"Strange Changes" is a song that was co-written by Lynsey de Paul and Sue Shifrin, the former wife of David Cassidy. It was released as a single in 1981 by de Paul on the MCA label. A promo 12 inch single with an extended version of the song was also released. It also appeared on the 1981 French compilation of hits album "Hot Summer Nights" on the Arabella record label as well as being released as a single in France. The recording was co-produced by Jon Kelly and de Paul. While the song was not immediately as commercial as many of her other hits, it had a laid back feel ahead of its time that grows on repeated listening. The British DJ and music journalist James Hamilton wrote in the music paper Record Mirror, "MCA’s mystery Fleetwood Mac-sounding ‘Strange Changes’ white label teaser turns out to be by Lynsey De Paul – oh, goodie!", with other sources also noting a similarity to Stevie Nicks. It subsequently made the UK disco chart breakers/bubblers listing. Writing on her website, de Paul revealed she wrote this song when she was living in the United States and wanted to come back home to the UK. "It meant leaving behind a life that had taken five years to build and a long term relationship with James Coburn. I literally felt that I was going through a strange change" she said. De Paul performed the song on a number of TV programmes including the German TV series WWF Club, and the second episode of the UK TV music programme Razzamatazz on 9 June 1981. It was included as a track on her Hit Singles album.
Katie Gately is an American musician, composer, producer and sound designer based in Los Angeles, California. As well as her own releases she has remixed Björk and Zola Jesus and produced for serpentwithfeet. Her most recent album, Loom, was released on the 14th February 2020.
