Solomone Naivalu is a former Fijian politician, who served in Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase's Cabinet as Minister for Health from 2001 to 2006. In the election held in September 2001, Naivalu won the Cunningham Open Constituency for the Soqosoqo Duavata ni Lewenivanua (SDL), and was subsequently appointed to the Cabinet. He retired from politics during the general election that was held from May 6 to May 13, 2006.

The United Fiji Party was a political party in Fiji. It was founded in 2001 by Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase as a power base; it absorbed most of the Christian Democratic Alliance and other conservative groups, and its endorsement by the Great Council of Chiefs (Bose Levu Vakaturaga) caused it to be widely seen as the successor to the Alliance Party, the former ruling party that had dominated Fijian politics from the 1960s to the 1980s. It draws its support mainly from indigenous Fijiians.

He served as mayor from 2006 to 2010 when he was defeated by Rick Goldring.
Gregory Samuel Sorbara is a former politician in Ontario, Canada. He was a Liberal member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1985 to 1995, and again from 2001 to 2012 who represented ridings north of Toronto in the city of Vaughan. Sorbara served as a cabinet minister in the governments of David Peterson and Dalton McGuinty.

Dr. Ram Baran Yadav is a Nepali politician and physician who served as the first president of Nepal from 23 July 2008 to 29 October 2015, following the declaration of a republic in 2008. Previously he served as Minister of Health from 1999 to 2001 and general secretary of the Nepali Congress. Yadav also served as Minister of State for Health from 1991 to 1994. He was elected to the House of Representatives in the 1999 election as a candidate of the Nepali Congress, becoming the Minister of Health in the subsequent government.
