Sonam Yangden Wangchuck (born 9 September 2023) is the third child of King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan and his wife, Queen Jetsun Pema. She is third in line to the throne after her brothers Crown Prince Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck and Jigme Ugyen Wangchuck.
On 9 September 2023, the King announced that the Queen had delivered their third child and only daughter at the Lingkana Palace. [1] The baby's name, Sonam Yangden Wangchuck, was announced on 9 December 2023. [2]
Sonam is a Bhutanese name meaning merit, longevity and good fortune. The name Yangden (or Yangdon), meaning precious jewel, signifies prosperity and well-being. [3]

Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck is the Druk Gyalpo, the monarch of the Kingdom of Bhutan. After his father Jigme Singye Wangchuck abdicated the throne, he became the monarch on 9 December 2006. A public coronation ceremony was held on 6 November 2008, a year that marked 100 years of monarchy in Bhutan.
