Sonja Zietlow (born 13 May 1968) is a German television-presenter.

Biography

Zietlow was born in Bonn. After she graduated from school and before her media-career began in 1993, she worked as first officer for the German airline Lufthansa. When Zietlow was a candidate in a TV-show, she was offered a job as host. She began her career as a host of Hugo & Hexana [1] and is most-famous for her ongoing hosting since 2004, of Ich bin ein Star – Holt mich hier raus! .

More-recently, she has hosted several RTL-shows, most-notably Der Schwächste fliegt! , a German adaptation of the hit BBC quiz-show The weakest Link . Since 2004, she hosts Ich bin ein Star – Holt mich hier raus!, the German adaption of I'm a Celebrity...Get me out of here! . In 2004, she was awarded the title "Woman of the Year (Moderation)" by Maxim Deutschland .[ citation needed ]

The eleven season of the German-version of the reality show I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! began on 12 January 2017. In the last episode of Season 10 the presenters Zietlow and Hartwich announced that the show would return for an 11th season in January 2017. The contestants were announced in early January 2017. 12 participants were announced to compete. The group of contestants was split into two camps with six participants living in each of the camps. Bushtucker duels took place instead of the original bushtucker trials. The season started off with a special on 13 January.

The thirteenth season of Ich bin ein Star – Holt mich hier raus!, the German version of the reality television show I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!, began on 11 January 2019, and was broadcast till 26 January 2019, on RTL Television.

At the end of the "Big Reunion" episode in season 7, Sonja and Daniel confirmed the return of Ich bin ein Star - Holt mich hier raus! for its eighth season in 2014. Helmut Berger said to Austrian newspaper Kurier, that he would like to go back to the camp in the new series. Season 8's Michael Wendler was the first contestant ever to intend a re-entry into the camp after his voluntary exit on day 4.

After the death of co-host Dirk Bach the future of the show was unknown. In October 2012 RTL revealed Daniel Hartwich as new host. Sonja Zietlow remains as host for the show.

Ich bin ein Star – Holt mich hier raus! returned for its fourteenth series on 10 January 2020 on RTL. Sonja Zietlow and Daniel Hartwich returned for their fourteenth and eighth season as hosts, respectively. Also the paramedic Bob McCarron alias "Dr. Bob" was back.
