Born in New Zealand, Sophie Koh grew up both there and in Singapore. She got her LMusA (Licentiate in Music Australia, a diploma) when she was just 16 years old and spent her early years majoring in classical piano at the Melbourne Conservatory of Music. After finishing university in Melbourne, where she qualified as an optometrist, she headed to Darwin where she won Triple J's Unearthed contest.
She launched her debut album, All The Pretty Boys, in 2005. She released her follow-up album, All Shook Up, in 2008. The album was produced by J. Walker (Machine Translations). Her third album, Oh My Garden, was recorded in Los Angeles with producer Brad Wood (Liz Phair, Veruca Salt, Pete Yorn) and includes collaboration with Ben Lee. It was released in 2012.
In 2013, Sophie and band completed a major tour of China. Her music has featured on TV's Grey's Anatomy, Neighbours and Home and Away and in feature films such as The Loved Ones.
Koh's fourth studio album, Book Of Songs, was released in 2017. It features a handful of songs sung in Mandarin and is produced by J. Walker. This latest album sees her cross over into the indie-classical world.
Sophie Koh signed to In-Fidelity Recordings label after winning Triple J's Unearthed contest. She became a breakthrough female artist, reaching No 3 on Triple J's Net 50 and remaining in the chart for 8 consecutive weeks. Paul Hester played drums on her debut album, All the Pretty Boys.[ citation needed ]
In 2005, Koh appeared on Australian TV show RocKwiz performing her song "Anywhere" and singing a duet with Jimmy Little. They performed a The Turtles song, "Happy Together".[ citation needed ] In 2008, she appeared on RocKwiz again. This time, the counterpart guest musician was Steve Kilbey from The Church. They performed a cover of The Go Betweens' "Streets of Your Town".[ citation needed ]
Koh has supported The Eels, The Go-Betweens, Paul Kelly, Ember Swift, Pete Murray, Alex Lloyd, Paul Dempsey, Howie Day and Tim Freedman.[ citation needed ] She was The Go-Betweens' national support in 2006. Koh contributed a cover of the Split Enz song "Charlie" for the double platinum album She Will Have Her Way: the Songs of Tim & Neil Finn.[ citation needed ]
Koh's second album, All Shook Up , which was (produced by Greg J Walker (Machine Translations)), led her to win Best Female Artist at The Age EG 2008 Music Awards. [1]
Koh appeared on Spicks and Specks , taking over co-hosting duties from Adam Hills for a section of the show. It was the most watched ABC TV show of 2009 [2] The same year, Sophie had a cameo role on Neighbours , performing "Anywhere" with her live band in Charlie's Bar.[ citation needed ]
In 2011, Koh released her third studio album, Oh My Garden, with producer Brad Wood and musician Ben Lee. The video for Lo-Fi was ABC RAGE "Indie Clip of the Week" and InPress Street Mag's "Clip of the Year 2011". Lo-Fi was also voted into RAGE's Top 50 clips of 2011. She also launched her own independent label, Crying Ninja Records.[ citation needed ]
Koh is an awarded songwriter, winning Best Contemporary Song at Independent Music Awards (USA) for "I Understand". She was a top ten finalist in the International Songwriting Competition for "Lo-Fi". (Both songs were co-written with Ben Lee and Brad Wood.) She toured China for the first time in 2013 to rave reviews. Cities visited included Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Changsha, Wuhan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Zaozhuang, Qufu, Beijing, Chengdu and Chongqing, and the tour was supported by Arts Victoria and ThisTownTouring.[ citation needed ]
In 2019, she was a finalist in the Melbourne Music Prize, Emerging Composer category.[ citation needed ]

Sophie Michelle Ellis-Bextor is an English singer and songwriter. She first came to prominence in the late 1990s as the lead singer of the indie rock band Theaudience. After the group disbanded, Ellis-Bextor went solo and achieved success beginning in the early 2000s. Her music is a mixture of mainstream pop, disco, nu-disco, and 1980s electronic music influences.
Sally Mary Seltmann, is an Australian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and Record producer. From 2000 to 2009, Seltmann used the stage name, New Buffalo. Under that name, Seltmann wrote, performed, arranged and produced her debut album, The Last Beautiful Day in September 2004. Her second album, Somewhere, Anywhere appeared in March 2007. Seltmann and Canadian singer-songwriter Feist, co-wrote the song "1234" which was featured in a 2007 iPod Nano commercial. It became a Top 10 hit on the United States Billboard Hot 100 for Feist. Seltmann is married to Darren Seltmann formerly of electronic music group, The Avalanches. In April 2010, Seltmann released her third solo album, Heart That's Pounding. Late that year, she formed an indie rock trio, Seeker Lover Keeper, with fellow Australians Sarah Blasko and Holly Throsby. They issued a self-titled album in June 2011, which peaked at number three on the ARIA Albums Chart. In 2013, Seltmann released her fourth solo album, Hey Daydreamer. In April 2018, Allen & Unwin published Sally Seltmann's debut novel Lovesome.
Christopher John Cheney is an Australian rock musician, record producer, and studio owner. He is the founding mainstay guitarist, songwriter, and lead vocalist of the rockabilly band The Living End, which was formed in 1994 with schoolmate Scott Owen. Cheney wrote the group's top 20 hits on the ARIA Singles Chart: "Second Solution" / "Prisoner of Society" (1997), "All Torn Down" (1999), "Pictures in the Mirror" (2000), "Roll On" (2001), "One Said to the Other" (2003), "What's on Your Radio" (2005), "Wake Up" (2006), and "White Noise" (2008). In 2004, Cheney joined the supergroup The Wrights which put out a cover version of Stevie Wright's epic 11-minute track, "Evie" as a single. At the 2009 APRA Music Awards, Cheney won Song of the Year for writing The Living End's track, "White Noise". In 2005, he married his girlfriend Emma; the couple has two daughters and are co-owners of a recording facility, Red Door Sounds. In 2011, the Cheney family relocated to Los Angeles.
Heavy Weight Champ, sometimes written or seen as HWC, was an Australian heavy rock band from Perth formed in 1999. The founders were drummer Dean Miller, vocalist/lead guitarist Brad Alexander and vocalist/guitarist Grant McCullough, soon joined by bass guitarist Luke Copeland. The group released two extended plays, Two Triple Zero and Grey Filters and one studio album, Lo-Fi Funeral, before disbanding in 2008. The band's early sounds were influenced by Tool, Deftones and Pearl Jam.

Tinpan Orange are an Indie folk band from Melbourne, Australia. They formed in 2005 after they were discovered busking on the streets of Darwin, Australia. The band is a trio of musicians, made up of Emily Lubitz as the lead singer and guitarist, with her brother Jesse Lubitz as guitarist and Alex Burkoy as a violinist. The band's style is heavily stylised folk music, combined with romanticism.
Holiday Sidewinder Carmen-Sparks is an Australian-born indie pop singer-songwriter, musician and record producer. She was the founding lead singer of Bridezilla (2005–13). After that group disbanded Sidewinder relocated to England to start her solo career. Her debut album, Forever or Whatever, appeared in October 2019.
Vanessa "Nessa" Morgan, who also performs as Neska, is a New Zealand-born, Australian R&B singer and songwriter. She has released two albums, Sex & Poverty and Neska (2008). She was based in the United States from 2005 to 2010.
Megan Alexanda Washington is an Australian musician and songwriter who has worked mononymously as Washington. Originally performing jazz music, her style shifted to indie pop and alternative rock. She has released three studio albums, I Believe You Liar, There There and Batflowers. Both I Believe You Liar and There There reached the top 5 on the ARIA Albums Chart and Batflowers peaked in the top 25.

Stonefield are an Australian rock band comprising the four Findlay sisters: Amy, Hannah, Sarah, and Holly. They were formed in 2006 as Iotah in Darraweit Guim, a small town in rural Victoria. They changed their name in 2010 and have released four studio albums, Stonefield, As Above, So Below — which peaked at No. 19 on the ARIA Albums Chart — Far from Earth, and Bent.
The Spazzys were an Australian pop punk band, formed in 2000 by twins Katerina and Lucy Ljubicic, with their schoolmate Alice McNamara on drums and vocals. Their cover version of "My Boyfriend's Back" peaked at number 24 on the ARIA Singles Chart.
Lauren Alaina Kristine Suddeth is an American singer and songwriter from Rossville, Georgia. She was the runner-up on the tenth season of American Idol. Her debut studio album, Wildflower, was released on October 11, 2011. Her second album, Road Less Traveled, was released January 27, 2017. Alaina later achieved her first number one on the Country Airplay chart with the album's title track. Her second number one came later that year when she simultaneously topped five Billboard charts with her friend and former classmate Kane Brown on their duet "What Ifs". In addition to this song with Brown, Alaina became an in-demand duet vocalist throughout the next few years, appearing on number one collaborations with Hardy, Devin Dawson, and Dustin Lynch. Her third studio album, Sitting Pretty on Top of the World, was released on September 3, 2021.
Rebecca Chirnside Barnard is an Australian singer, songwriter, producer and musician. She was the lead singer of the band Rebecca's Empire from 1993 to 2000 and has forged a solo career since her debut album, Fortified, was released in 2006. Her second solo album, Everlasting, was released in 2010. After a lengthy break of just under seven years, Barnard released her third solo album, Music for Listening and Relaxation, in 2017. She released her first solo jazz album, The Night We Called It A Day, in 2023.
"Leaps and Bounds" / "Bradman" is a double A-sided single by Australian rock group Paul Kelly and the Coloured Girls released in January 1987. "Leaps and Bounds" is from their debut double album, Gossip (1986). "Bradman" did not appear on a studio album until the international version of Under the Sun (1988). The single reached top 100 in the Australian Kent Music Report Singles Chart. Due to possible racist connotations the band changed its name, for international releases, to Paul Kelly and the Messengers. In 1997, Kelly was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame, at the ceremony Crowded House paid tribute to Kelly and performed "Leaps and Bounds". In October 2003, Xanthe Littlemore covered "Leaps and Bounds" for the tribute album, Stories of Me – A Songwriter's Tribute to Paul Kelly. In 2005, rock music writer, Toby Creswell described two of Kelly's songs: "Leaps and Bounds" and "From Little Things Big Things Grow" in his book, 1001 Songs. For the former, Creswell observed "The grand themes of [his] work are all there – Melbourne, football, transcendence and memory... [he] is a detail man – the temperature, the location, foliage". On 26 March 2006 Kelly performed at the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony in Melbourne, singing "Leaps and Bounds" and "Rally Around the Drum". In February 2009 Patience Hodgson, Glenn Richards and Kelly performed "Leaps and Bounds" at the Myer Music Bowl for SBS-TV's concert RocKwiz Salutes the Bowl. On 29 September 2012 Kelly performed "How to Make Gravy" and "Leaps and Bounds" at the 2012 AFL Grand Final although most of the performance was not broadcast on Seven Network's pre-game segment.
All Day Venus is the second studio album by Australian musician Adalita. It was released by Liberation Music on 20 September 2013.
Teeth & Tongue were an Australian indie rock band formed in 2007 by Jessica Claire Cornelius, a New Zealand-born singer-songwriter and musician. The project has included other members, such as James Harvey on drums, Marc Regueiro-McKelvie on guitar and Damian Sullivan on bass guitar and synthesiser. Teeth & Tongue released four albums, Monobasic, Tambourine, Grids and Give Up on Your Health, before disbanding early in 2017. The stage name had also been used for Cornelius' solo performances, but since 2017 she has performed and released material under her own name and relocated to Los Angeles late that year.
Celia Pavey, known professionally as Vera Blue, is an Australian singer-songwriter signed with Island Records Australia, which is part of Universal Music Australia. Her folk-inspired album This Music peaked at number 14 on the Australian ARIA Charts in July 2013. Pavey sings, and plays the guitar and the violin. She placed third in season 2 of The Voice Australia. Her debut album Perennial achieved Gold certification in Australia after its release in 2017.
Stella Donnelly is a Welsh-Australian indie rock singer-songwriter and guitarist. After the success of her debut EP Thrush Metal in 2017, she signed with Secretly Canadian in 2018. She released her debut studio album Beware of the Dogs to critical acclaim in March 2019, peaking at number 15 on the ARIA Album Charts, and winning Independent Album of the Year at the AIR Awards. Her second studio album, Flood, was released in August 2022, debuting at number 29 on the ARIA Charts.
