Soul Muzik is a Nigerian entertainment company founded in 2008. It is co-owned by award-winning singer-songwriter Darey. Three albums have been released by Soul Muzik including four singles: "Lolola", "Totally Yours" (which features Wayne Wonder), "Smile" and "Never Going Down" by signees Zaina Agoro and Mo Eazy respectively.

History

Although birthed and rooted in Nigeria, Soul Muzik has branches and affiliates in the United States and the United Kingdom. In early 2009, Soul Muzik hired Dick Griffey (former Soul Train executive) as label chairman. Mr Giffey has millions of album sales worldwide to his credit through his label SOLAR Records, and forged the careers of musical artists such as multi-platinum hip hop producer Dr. Dre, Babyface, Edmonds Antonio and L.A. Reid to name a few. Dick Griffey offered to produce Darey's third album, but died before the project was completed.

Using the power of music, entertainment and culture to contribute positively to the development of Africa, Soul Muzik gives musical talent from the continent of Africa a voice on the world stage.[ citation needed ]

Soul Muzik is home to co-owner Darey himself and most recently, Mo Eazy [1] and Zaina Agoro. [2]

The latest release under the company is a new single by Darey titled "Special Fever" [3] and a brand new video by Zaina Agoro featuring Wayne Wonder titled "Totally Yours". [4]

Shalamar is a Grammy winning American R&B and soul music vocal group active since the late 1970s and throughout the 1980s. Shalamar's classic line-up on the SOLAR label—consisted of Howard Hewett, Jody Watley, and Jeffrey Daniel. SOLAR was an American record label founded in 1977 by Dick Griffey, reconstituted out of Soul Train Records only two years after it was founded with Soul Train television show host and creator Don Cornelius.

Don Jazzy Nigerian Record Producer

Michael Collins Ajereh, better known as Don Jazzy or Don Baba J, is a Nigerian record producer, singer, songwriter, entrepreneur and philanthropist. He co-founded the now defunct record label Mo' Hits Records in 2004. Following the closure of the aforementioned record label, Don Jazzy set up Mavin Records on 8 May 2012.

Richard Gilbert "Dick" Griffey was an American record producer and music promoter who founded SOLAR Records, a RAS acronym for "Sound of Los Angeles Records". The label played a major role in developing a funk-oriented blend of disco, R&B and soul music during the 1970s and 1980s. As a concert promoter, Griffey arranged bookings for artists such as James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Jon Gibson, Stevie Wonder, and the Jacksons.

Chinedu Okoli, better known by his stage name Flavour N'abania or simply Flavour, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He began his musical career as a drummer for a local church. Flavour is popularly known across Africa and the world for his hit song "Nwa Baby ". He is currently signed to 2nite Entertainment.

Zaina Agoro, better known by her stage name Zaina, is a Nigerian American singer and songwriter.

The discography of Wizkid, a Nigerian Afrobeats recording artist, consists of three studio albums, one compilation album, fifty singles, forty-four promotional singles, sixteen guest appearances, six cameo appearances and thirty-three music videos. Wizkid started his music career at age 11, releasing a seven-track collaborative album with Glorious Five entitled Lil Prinz. Wizkid took the Nigerian music industry by storm when he collaborated with Naeto C, Ikechukwu, M.I and Kel. He signed a record deal with Empire Mates Entertainment in 2009. From 2009 through 2011, Wizkid worked on materials for his debut album Superstar, the most highly anticipated Nigerian album of 2011. Superstar was supported by the singles "Love My Baby", "Pakurumo", "Tease Me/Bad Guys", "Don't Dull" and "Holla at Your Boy".

Chop My Money 2012 single by P-Square

"Chop My Money" is a song by Nigerian duo P-Square. It features additional vocals from Akon and May D. The song originally appeared on their fifth studio album, The Invasion (2011). P-Square recorded the song shortly after signing a partnership deal with Akon's Konvict Muzik. The music video for "Chop My Money" was directed by Jude Engees Okoye and Ben Marc.

Seyi Shay Nigerian singer

Deborah Oluwaseyi Joshua, professionally known as Seyi Shay, is a Nigerian-based singer, songwriter and actress. She wrote and produced three songs for the soundtrack to Konami's video game Crime Life: Gang Wars (2005). She also wrote "You Will See", a song that was included on Melanie C's third studio album Beautiful Intentions (2005). Shay wrote "White Lies", a song from Chip's Transition album. In 2008, she became the lead singer for the now defunct pop girl group From Above. The group signed a recording deal with Sony's Columbia Records and was managed by Mathew Knowles' Music World Entertainment company. In November 2013, Shay signed an endorsement deal with telecommunications service provider Etisalat. In July 2015, she signed a record deal with Island Records. Shay released her debut studio album Seyi or Shay in November 2015. It was supported by the promotional singles "Irawo", "Ragga Ragga", and "Chairman".

The 2011 Nigeria Entertainment Awards was the 6th edition of the ceremony to reward outstanding contribution to Nigerian entertainment industry. It was held at Sharp Theater, Symphony Space, New York City on September 5, 2011. It was hosted by Funke Akindele and Julius Agwu.

Phyno Nigerian rapper

Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike, better known as Phyno, is a Nigerian rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer. He started his music career as a producer in 2003, and is renowned for rapping in the Igbo language. His debut studio album No Guts No Glory was released in 2014. It was supported by four singles: "Ghost Mode", "Man of the Year", "Parcel" and "O Set". Phyno has worked with artists such as Timaya, Flavour, Ruggedman, Bracket, J. Martins and Mr Raw.

<i>Ayo</i> (Wizkid album) 2014 studio album by Wizkid

Ayo is the self-titled second studio album by Nigerian singer Wizkid. It was released on September 17, 2014, by Starboy Entertainment and Empire Mates Entertainment. The album is the follow-up to his debut album Superstar (2011). Ayo was postponed twice due to difficulty in track selection. Preceding its release were the singles "Jaiye Jaiye", "On Top Your Matter", "One Question", "Joy", "Bombay" and "Show You The Money". Wizkid enlisted Sarz, Shizzi, Uhuru, Del B, Dokta Frabz, Maleek Berry, Legendury Beatz and Spellz to produce the album. Ayo features collaborations with Femi Kuti, Seyi Shay, Yemi Sax, Akon, Banky W., Phyno, Tyga and Wale. It received mixed reviews from music critics, who had a difference of opinion about the album. Some critics commended its production, song arrangement and sound quality, while others panned its lyrics.

DJ Spinall Nigerian disc jockey

Sodamola Oluseye Desmond, professionally known as DJ Spinall, is a Nigerian Disc Jockey, Record Producer, songwriter, Label Executive, and Media personality. He first gained prominence in 2004, while working as a radio DJ at Raypower 100.5 FM. He later joined Industry Nite where he promoted underground talents at the weekly platform. He was the official DJ to Wande Coal while he was affiliated with Mavin Records. DJ Spinall created a style edge to his outfit known as TheCAP, tracing his roots back to his culture. TheCAP, which fans tags as "TheCrazyAzzParty" has since then been his brand power and identity.

L.A.X (musician) Nigerian recording artist

Damilola Afolabi, known professionally as L.A.X is a Nigerian recording artist. L.A.X started out as a rapper and was part of a three-man group called Flyboiz while he was still in high school. On August 20, 2013, L.A.X signed a major-label deal with Starboy Entertainment moments after releasing the critically acclaimed song titled "Caro" which won him the "Diaspora Artiste of The Year" at the 2014 edition of the Nigeria Entertainment Awards.

Ayoola Ogundeyi Jr., better known as Ayo Jay, is an English-born Nigerian singer and songwriter. He currently has a record deal with One Nation and RCA, and is also known as Boy Wonder.
