SoundCtrl is a blog based in New York City aimed at covering developments in music and technology. The site features reviews of mobile music apps, interviews with industry professionals, and provides coverage of music tech events. SoundCtrl was founded in 2009 by Jesse Kirshbaum (CEO, NUE Agency) [1]

SoundCtrl also hosts regular music tech networking events, panels, and keynotes. Past panels have featured Bob Lefsetz, [2] Nick Jonas, Asher Roth, Maura Johnston, [3] Talib Kweli, [4] Junior Sanchez, [5] and Steve Stoute, [6] among others.

FlashFWD Awards

Each year, SoundCtrl hosts the FlashFWD Awards, an annual awards show to honor individuals or organizations breaking ground in music and technology. Recently, the event has been held at New York City's Gramercy Theatre.

Black Sheep is an American hip hop duo from Queens, New York, United States, composed of Andres "Dres" Vargas Titus and William "Mista Lawnge" McLean. The duo was from New York but met as teenagers in Sanford, North Carolina, where both of their families relocated. The group was part of the Native Tongues collective, which included the Jungle Brothers, A Tribe Called Quest, and De La Soul. After getting together in 1989, Black Sheep debuted in 1991 with the hit song "Flavor of the Month" and later released its first album, A Wolf in Sheep's Clothing, which gained them praise and recognition in the hip-hop community for the album's unique rhythms and intelligent, often humorous lyrics. After six years together, Black Sheep disbanded in 1995, citing creative differences.

Jake Udell is an American music manager, entrepreneur, founder of TH3RD BRAIN, former head of activation at Community.com, and founder of Metalink Labs. At the EDMbiz conference in Las Vegas in June 2014, Udell moderated a panel featuring panelists in the industry under the age of 30. After viewing the panel, music industry analyst Bob Lefsetz included an excerpt about Udell in his newsletter, "Jake is a new Shep Gordon, maybe a new Irving or Geffen." Udell was featured in Forbes 2016 30 Under 30 list in the Music category, and was listed as one of Billboard's 40 Under 40 in 2017.

"Broken Clocks" is a song by the American singer SZA. The song was originally released as the first promotional single on June 2, 2017, from her debut studio album, Ctrl. It was later sent to urban contemporary radio as the album's fourth single on January 9, 2018. "Broken Clocks" was written by SZA and producer ThankGod4Cody. It samples "West", which was written by River Tiber, Frank Dukes, and Daniel Caesar and performed by the former. SZA performed the song at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards.
