Sour Grapes, also known as The Last Story Arc, is a graphic novel written by John Layman, drawn by Rob Guillory, and published by Image Comics as the twelfth and final volume of the American comic book series Chew . [1] [2] [3] [4] The story revolves around cibopathic federal agent Tony Chu, who, on being forced to consume Mason Savoy of his memories, learns of the impending annihilation of the world at the hands of an alien civilisation resembling chickens lest every human on the planet to have recently ingested chicken be killed, leading him and his wife Amelia to make the ultimate amoral sacrifice.
The series was received positively, [5] [6] [7] [8] and was followed by the crossover series Outer Darkness/Chew and the prequel/midquel series Chu . [9]
