Michael Christopher DelCampo (born June 6, 1979) known professionally as Sour Shoes or Mike from Mahopac, is a radio personality known for his impersonations and song parodies. [2] [3] [4] [5] Sour Shoes gained notoriety for calling into radio programs like The Howard Stern Show and Mike and the Mad Dog . In a 2014 article, Rolling Stone referred to Sour Shoes as a musical genius, [6] and he is often accepted into the shows that he pranks, [7] [8] as in the case of Adam Carolla. [9]

Personal life

Sour Shoes grew up in Baldwin, New York and currently lives in Mahopac, New York. [10] DelCampo revealed he had to live in his car during his days at college.

DelCampo works with Autism Speaks helping autistic children.[ citation needed ]

Comedy

On June 5, 2003, DelCampo gained visibility as a comedic artist with his first appearance on The Howard Stern Show . According to the staff, Michael came to the station carrying instruments and skating on roller blades. Stern asked "What are you, a street musician?", which he confirmed, continuing with impersonations of mostly singers. Stern found him odd but many on the staff enjoyed his antics, particularly K.C. Armstrong. Stern once asked, "Are you bipolar?" and Sour Shoes jokingly replied, "I'm bicoastal from Malibu to Mahopac."

By 2005, Sour Shoes became a regular on the Stern show, including doing song requests.

DelCampo's quick comedic stylings of voice and improvisation are reminiscent of a young Robin Williams. [11] Howard Stern has compared Sour Shoes to Rich Little. [12]

DelCampo has popularized several catch phrases including "ooooo" and the word "noine", a play on how the word nine is pronounced by Howard Stern producer Gary Dell'Abate due to his accent, that his fans have since embraced in relation to the comedian. [13]

WFAN is a commercial radio station licensed to New York, New York, carrying a sports radio format known as "Sports Radio 66 AM and 101.9 FM" or "The Fan". Owned by Audacy, Inc., the station serves the New York metropolitan area while its 50,000-watt clear channel signal can be heard at night throughout much of the eastern United States and Canada. WFAN's studios are located in the Hudson Square neighborhood of lower Manhattan and its transmitter is located on High Island in the Bronx. The Wack Pack is the name given to an assortment of personalities heard throughout the history of The Howard Stern Show. As a parody of the Rat Pack or Brat Pack, Stern biographer Richard Mintzer has labeled them a key part of the show. Members tend to be unusual in some way: being blatantly racist, mentally disabled, having a comical appearance, voice or ability, or some combination thereof. As of 2023, twenty-two living individuals are designated "Wack Packers". Not every regular guest on or caller to the show is considered a member, nor are any of the show's staff members; Stern has stated that Wack Packers are not defined by having any disability or peculiarity, but by their inability to understand why they are funny.

Eric Fred Norris is an American radio personality and the longest-tenured staff member of The Howard Stern Show, aside from Stern himself. He first met Howard Stern while working at WCCC-FM, a radio station in Hartford, Connecticut.

Mammary Lane was a listener request show featuring clips of The Howard Stern Show. <i>Too Fat to Fish</i>

Too Fat to Fish is a collection of memoirs by American comedian, radio personality and actor Artie Lange. Published by Spiegel & Grau on November 11, 2008, the book is co-written by journalist Anthony Bozza. Lange dedicated the book to radio personality Howard Stern, who also writes its foreword. It is said that Lange writes about his "most personal revelation" in the book.

The Losers were a band made up of staff members of The Howard Stern Show. The group was formed in 1997 when the show staff started playing with instruments that Green Day had brought to the studio prior to their own performance. The band was named after their original drummer Scott the Engineer, who the other members of the show staff consider a loser. In the late nineties the band played with Jenny Jones, James Brown, Willie Nelson and Barry Williams and made an appearance on Magic Johnson's talk show, The Magic Hour on July 3, 1998 to perform a flatulence-filled version of "Wipe Out".

Between 1982 and 1994, American radio and media personality Howard Stern hosted a number of pay-per-view specials and released various VHS and audio tapes.
