The 2006 Winter Paralympic Games, the ninth Paralympic Winter Games, took place in Turin, Italy from 10 to 19 March 2006. These were the first Winter Paralympic Games to be held in Italy. They were also the first Paralympics to use the new Paralympics logo.
The Republic of Korea first participated at the Olympic Games in 1948, and has sent athletes to compete in every Summer Olympic Games since then, except for 1980 which they boycotted. South Korea has also participated in every Winter Olympic Games since 1948, except for the 1952 games.
The Whang Youn Dai Achievement Award is named after South Korean Dr. Whang Youn Dai, who contracted polio at the age of three. She devoted her life to the development of paralympic sport in Korea and around the world. At the 1988 Paralympic Summer Games in Seoul, Korea, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) recognized her lifelong contributions to the Paralympic Movement and established the Whang Youn Dai Achievement Award. Since then, this award has been presented at every Paralympic Games to one male and one female athlete who each "best exemplify the spirit of the Games and inspire and excite the world".
The 2018 Winter Paralympics, the 12th Paralympic Winter Games, and also more generally known as the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games, were an international multi-sport event for athletes with disabilities governed by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), that was held in Pyeongchang, South Korea, from 9 to 18 March 2018. They were the second Paralympics to be held in South Korea, following the 1988 Summer Paralympics in Seoul.

Han Min-su is a South Korean ice sledge hockey player. He played in the 2010 and 2014 Paralympic Winter Games. At the 2010 Games in Vancouver, he was the flag bearer for South Korea. He won a silver medal at the 2012 IPC Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships. Han was a member of South Korea's bronze medal winning team in para ice hockey at the 2018 Winter Paralympics.
Cho Byeong-seok is a South Korean ice sledge hockey player. He played in the 2010 and 2014 Paralympic Winter Games. He won a silver medal at the 2012 IPC Ice Sledge Hockey World Championships. Cho was a member of South Korea's bronze medal winning team in para ice hockey at the 2018 Winter Paralympics.
South Korea competed at the 2002 Winter Paralympics in Salt Lake City, United States. 6 competitors from South Korea participated, all in the Alpine Skiing event. Sang Min Han won the nation's only medal, clinching the silver in the Men's Giant Slalom LW12 event in Alpine Skiing. Han would go on to represent South Korea at the 2006, 2010, 2018, and 2022 Winter Paralympics.

Choi Kwang-hyouk is a South Korean ice sledge hockey player. He was a member of South Korea's bronze medal winning team in para ice hockey at the 2018 Winter Paralympics.
Kang Mi-suk is a wheelchair curler from South Korea, and is on the South Korean wheelchair curling team. Her lower part of the body was paralysed due to a blood vessel abnormality with unknown causes. She participated at the 2014 Winter Paralympics, and 2010 Winter Paralympics, winning a silver medal.
