South Pill is a suburb of Saltash in the civil parish of Saltash, east Cornwall, England, the word "pill" deriving from a tidal pool related to the estuary of the River Tamar. [1] [2]

The Royal Albert Bridge is a railway bridge which spans the River Tamar in England between Plymouth, Devon and Saltash, Cornwall. Its unique design consists of two 455-foot (138.7 m) lenticular iron trusses 100 feet (30.5 m) above the water, with conventional plate-girder approach spans. Cornwall Railway viaducts

The Cornwall Railway company constructed a railway line between Plymouth and Truro, England, opening in 1859, and extended it to Falmouth in 1863. The topography of Cornwall is such that the route, which is generally east-west, cuts across numerous deep river valleys that generally run north-south.
