South Punjab Forest Company (SPFC) is a subsidiary of the Forestry, Wildlife & Fisheries Department, Government of the Punjab [4] and operates on Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode. The company is created under the visionary leadership of Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Chief Minister Punjab and spearheaded by Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, Chairman, South Punjab Forest Company (SPFC). One of the main objectives of the organization is to streamline public and private sector investments in the forestry sector, so that deforestation can be reduced in Punjab, and forest conservation and sustainable economic development go hand in hand. SPFC aims to encourage investments in the forestry sector which offers low risk with high return. The land will be awarded to successful bidders for 15 years and further extendable to another 15 years subjected to satisfactory performance of investors. The project will be floated in the market for solicitation of expression of interest from the potential investors in June 2017. The land slots will be awarded to the successful bidders based on evaluation by the end of August, 2017. The Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) of forest sites, awarded to successful bidders, will be done in collaboration with the Forestry, Wildlife & Fisheries Department, Government of the Punjab, as per the provisions of PPP Act, 2014, and The Punjab Forest (Amendment) Act, 2016. Revenue sharing will be done in this initiative. The Company in order to effectively reach out to the business community is organizing seminars in collaboration with various Chambers of Commerce & Industry to sensitize business groups to invest in the opportunity. SPFC owns 134,995 acres of land in districts of Bahawalnagar, Bahwalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur. [11] [12] The details of each region can be found in following tables. [13]

Dera Ghazi Khan, abbreviated as D.G. Khan, is a city in the southwestern part of Punjab, Pakistan. It is the 19th populous city of Pakistan. Lying west of the Indus River, it is the headquarters of Dera Ghazi Khan District and Dera Ghazi Khan Division.
Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi is a Pakistani politician who is the former Chief Minister of Punjab. He was a member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab from August 2018 till January 2023, when he, as chief minister, dissolved the assembly. In 2023, he left the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) and joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) along with his son, Moonis Elahi, and 10 other former PML(Q) MPAs over political rifts with the party president and cousin, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain. He was appointed president of the PTI. He was the former president of the Punjab Division of the PML(Q).
The Government of Punjab is the provincial government of the Pakistani province of Punjab. It is based in Lahore, the provincial capital. Its powers and structure are set out in the provisions of the Constitution, in which 41 districts come under its authority and jurisdiction. The government includes the cabinet, selected from members the Punjab Provincial Assembly, and the non-political civil staff within each department. The province is governed by a unicameral legislature with the head of government known as the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister, invariably the leader of a political party represented in the Assembly, selects members of the Cabinet. The Chief Minister and Cabinet are thus responsible for the functioning of government and are entitled to remain in office so long as it maintains the confidence of the elected Assembly. The head of the province is known as the Governor, appointed by the federal government, on behalf of the President, while the administrative boss of the province is Chief Secretary Punjab.
Makhdum Khusro Bakhtyar is a Pakistani politician who recently served as Pakistan's Federal Minister for Industries & Production. Previously, he has served as Federal Minister of Economic Affairs, Federal Minister of National Food Security and Research and Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms in the PTI Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan. He had been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from 2002 to 2008, 2013 to 2018 and 2018 till 2023.

South Punjab, also proposed as Bahawalpur-South Punjab, are the names for the proposals to create a new so called province in Pakistan, out of the southern regions of Punjab. The region comprises the Bahawalpur, Multan, Sahiwal and Dera Ghazi Khan divisions. The proposed province would form about 52 percent of the total area and almost 40 percent of the population of the current Punjab province.
