Shoeburyness is a suburb of the city of Southend-on-Sea, in the ceremonial county of Essex, England. 3 miles (5 km) east of the city centre. Shoebury was originally named by the Saxons, before becoming two distinctively separate parishes of South Shoebury and North Shoebury some time after 1086. South Shoebury civil parish became Shoeburyness Urban District Council from 1894 until 1933, when it became part of the county borough of Southend-on-Sea, which also incorporated the western part of the dissolved North Shoebury civil parish, and the area became named after the Ness. It is now in the unparished area of Southend-on-Sea, in the Southend-on-Sea unitary authority district. It was once a Garrison town and still acts as host to MoD Shoeburyness.

Originally the area was called Thorpe, but it was renamed Thorpe Bay, after the railway station. The station had been given the name to indicate that it was a seaside settlement. The majority of Thorpe Bay consists of residential properties, mainly built in the 1920s, arranged in a grid pattern.

Fossetts Park is the provisional name for a football stadium proposed to be built in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, England as a new home for Southend United F.C. to replace its current town centre Roots Hall Stadium. The name may be changed if sponsorship for the stadium is secured. Initial proposals for the new stadium emerged in 1998; planning permission was applied for, and later confirmed by Southend Council, in 2008 but at that time the scheme depended entirely on financing from a proposed adjacent retail and leisure development, which failed to happen. In 2020, a new deal was agreed, based instead on delivery of 1300 new homes, split between the Fossetts Farm site and Roots Hall. However, council planning approval for revised plans including a 16,226-seat stadium had still not been given in February 2023.
