Spirits (band)

Spirits is a male/female dance music duo from England, who scored two entries on the US Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in 1995. Members are Osmond Wright and Beverly Thomas. Their debut single, "Don't Bring Me Down" (1994), spent two weeks at number one on the dance chart and it was followed by "Spirit Inside" (1995), which hit number twelve. [1]

New jack swing, new jack or swingbeat is a fusion genre that fuses the rhythms and production techniques of hip hop and dance-pop with the urban contemporary sound of R&B. Spearheaded by producers Teddy Riley and Bernard Belle, new jack swing was most popular from the mid-1980s to mid-1990s. C+C Music Factory was an American musical group formed in 1989 by David Cole and Robert Clivillés. Karen Gordon, better known by her stage name Dajae, is a female R&B and dance music singer born in Chicago, Illinois.

Clubland was a swedish house music act assembled in 1990 by BTECH label boss/producer Jan Ekholm and British duo Dave Rawlings and Ronnie Herel of Quartz. British musician Morgan King joined them later as a songwriter. Lead vocals for the first album Themes from Outer Clubland were variously performed by the American hip house duo 2 in a Room, British rapper Stepz, and Swedish singers Zemya Hamilton and Kayo Shekoni. In 1991, Ekholm reformed the act with members now comprising singer Zemya Hamilton and musician Morgan King.

2 in a Room was an American hip hop, freestyle and hip house duo. The group, active between 1987 and 1995, consisted of rapper Rafael "Dose" Vargas and producer/remixer Roger "Rog Nice" Pauletta.

Double Dee is an Italian dance music duo who scored one hit, "Found Love", which spent a week at #1 on the U.S. Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in 1990. The single did not chart on the Billboard Hot 100 but did reach #64 on the Airplay chart.

Xaviera Gold is a female African American dance music singer who is a former DJ and mixer on Chicago's WBMX-FM. In 1987, she had a hit with Ralphi Rosario on the song "You Used to Hold Me" under the name Xavier Gold. With Masters At Work, she went to #1 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in 1993 with "Gonna Get Back to You". She had an additional Top 10 on the dance chart in 1994 as the featured vocalist on Ralphi Rosario's track "You Used to Hold Me '94". The song "Good Luv" followed later that year and was a Top 30 dance hit.

Staxx Of Joy is a house music studio project assembled by producers Simon Thorne and Tom Jones. In the mid-1990s they had four Top 10 hits on the US Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, two of which reached number 1: "Joy" and "You". Both of these tracks, and a third single, "Shout", featured vocals by Carol Leeming. The songs are officially credited to Staxx Of Joy featuring Carol Leeming.

Meechie is a female African American dance music singer from Chicago. She placed two songs on the US Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in the 1990s, "Bring Me Joy" and "You'll Never Find." "Bring Me Joy" spent one week at #74 in the UK Singles Chart in September 1995.

Sphynx is a US dance music act who hit #1 on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in 1995 with the song "What Hope Have I". Lead vocals on this track were sung by Sabrina Johnston, a female dance singer from New Jersey. Johnston also has US dance chart entries as a solo artist.

Ruffneck is an American house music group from New Jersey, United States, consisting of record producers Dwayne Richardson, Derek Jenkins and Shaheer Williams. They placed three singles on the U.S. Hot Dance Club Play chart, including "Everybody Be Somebody," which was based on a sample from "Bostich" by the Swiss synthpop band Yello, and spent three weeks at #1 in 1995. Their first two hits were released on Masters At Work's MAW label. Their biggest success in the UK Singles Chart occurred in 1995, when "Everybody Be Somebody" peaked at #13.

Hannah Jones is a British female dance music vocalist, who scored Three Top 5 hits on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in the late 1990s. Her first two songs hit #1 on that chart: "No One Can Love You More Than Me" in 1997 and "You Only Have To Say You Love Me" in 1998. The latter also climbed to No. 65 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Kathy Brown is an American dance and house singer from South Carolina. Her credits include vocals on the songs "Turn Me On " and "Strings of Life ".

Suzanne Palmer is an American electronic dance music singer, songwriter and producer born in Chicago, Illinois. Kellee Warren, or just simply known as Kellee, is a female electronica and house music artist from Chicago, Illinois. She scored two hits on the Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart: "My Love", which peaked at number 5 in 1995, and "This Man", which went all the way to number 1 in 1997. She graduated from The Soma Institute for clinical massage therapy in 2005 and received her associate's degree from Prairie State College in 2010. She was working on an EP, but decided to retire from recording in 2015 in order to work on her undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

A.S.K. M.E. are a female trio from Chicago Illinois. The members consists of April Allen, Sheree Hicks and Kera Trotter.

Princessa is a house music rapper/singer from New York City. She was the featured artist on two singles by the Austrian house music band, Bingoboys: the first was the song "How to Dance", which hit number one on the U.S. Dance chart in 1991, as well as number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100; the second was a follow-up single, "Borrowed Love", which peaked at number 32 on the dance chart the same year. She also did a guest appearance on Chic's 1992 number-one club hit "Chic Mystique". She worked with Vanilla Ice on a number of songs as a backup singer from 1987 to 1991.

The discography of American singer Diana Ross, the former lead singer of the Supremes, consists of 24 studio albums and 116 singles. 27 of her singles reached the Billboard top 40 in the US, 12 of them the Billboard top 10, and six of those reaching number one, placing her in a tie for fifth among the top female solo performers who have reached the top spot there. In the UK, she amassed a total of 47 top 40 singles with 20 of them reaching the top 10 and two of those reaching number one.
