Sporting Clube da Boa Vista is a sports club whose football (soccer) team plays in the Boa Vista Island League in Cape Verde. The team is based in Sal Rei and serves the island of Boa Vista. The team won their first and only island title in 2010.

Cape Verde or Cabo Verde, officially the Republic of Cabo Verde, is an island country spanning an archipelago of 10 volcanic islands in the central Atlantic Ocean. It forms part of the Macaronesia ecoregion, along with the Azores, Canary Islands, Madeira, and the Savage Isles. In ancient times these islands were referred to as "the Islands of the Blessed" or the "Fortunate Isles". Located 570 kilometres (350 mi) west of the Cape Verde Peninsula off the coast of Northwest Africa, the islands cover a combined area of slightly over 4,000 square kilometres (1,500 sq mi).

Sal Rei is a city on the northwestern coast of the island of Boa Vista in eastern Cape Verde. Sal Rei is the island's main urban settlement, and the seat of the Boa Vista Municipality. In 2010 its population was 5,778. The name of the settlement means "Salt King" in Portuguese. This name stems from when the island's main industry was salt production.

History

The club was founded in 1956, the same time when Sporting Clube de Carvoeiras (now Porto Novo) was founded and is the second oldest sports club on the island. The logo (today's logo), the uniform and name is identical to the Sporting Clube de Portugal. [1] [2]

Sporting Clube de Porto Novo is a football club that had played in the Premier division and plays in the Santo Antão Island South Zone Division in Cape Verde. It is based in the island of Santo Antão. The club was founded in 1956 and is the island's oldest sporting club. Geographically it was once the westernmost sporting club in Cape Verde and the whole of Africa, now it is one of several today.

After winning their only regional title in 2010, the club headed to the 2010 National Championships and played its matches in Group B. Sporting finished 4th in that group and finished with 5 points with a win and two draws, the club scored eight goals, one of two in that group and three that season, Scorpion Vermelho also scored eight along with a club placed in Group A Botafogo of São Filipe.

The 2010 Cape Verdean Football Championship season was the 31st of the competition of the first-tier football in Cape Verde. Its started on 8 May, slightly later than the last season and finished on 10 July, later than last year. The tournament was organized by the Cape Verdean Football Federation. It was the second consecutive time that the final featured two clubs from the same island and city, the next time it happened would be five years later. It brought the Capital Rivalry between Sporting and Boavista to the national championships. Another club of Praia named Boavista FC winning the national title breaking Sporting Praia's consecutive title wins. A month later, Boavista Praia would become the only club to win both the championship and the cup title in the same season.

Botafogo Futebol Clube is football club that plays in the Fogo Island League in Cape Verde. It is based in the city of São Filipe in the island of Fogo and plays in its stadium. Académica do Fogo are one of the unrelegated clubs on the island which includes Académica and Vulcânicos. The owner of the club as of 2014 was Cabo Verde Telecom. It is one of many teams that only a few titles before and since independence including one in 1980. Its president as of the 2014-15 season is Manuel Anatólio Dias Fonseca and its manager as of the 2015-16 season is Mário Pinto.

In the 2015-16 season, the club shared the same totals with África Show, as the club won a match on April 24 defeating Desportivo Estância Baixo 2-0 in the 13th round while África Show won 1-3 over Onze Estrelas of another match on the same day, the club was placed fourth. In the 2017 season, they started seventh, came 6th, then at round 7, 4th then 5th, 6th again, fifth at the final round and 6th again and remained for the whole season and finished there, they also had 14 points and scored 16 goals.

Desportivo Estância Baixo is a sports club for a football (soccer) team that plays in the Boa Vista Island League in Cape Verde. The team is based in the settlement of Estância de Baixo in the island of Boa Vista and receives assistance from the local government. The club area includes the south of the island, especially Curral Velho. The team has never won any title.

Sporting Boa Vista started off the 2017-18 season with a win over Estância Baixo on December 10, the club what it had not achieved in seasons, starting first as they finished 4-0 and was the highest scoring match of the season until the 8th round, it was shared with Sal Rei's 4-1 victory over Estância Baixo, overall, it is the highest victory in the season. Sporting had been sagged to third with 6 points, 6 goals scored and 6 goals conceded, they had the same points, two wins and a loss also shared by Sanjoanense and Sal Rei.Later themselves made another highest scoring match in Boa Vista with an 0-6 win over Estância Baixo and held it for just two weeks when Sal Rei took the record, it became second alongside Académica's 1-6 win over Onze Estrelas made at the same round. Sporting recently defeated Académica Operária 0-1 as a revenge over Sporting's prevention of being first and was 5th and was second in goals with 21 scored, Sporting made a victory over Sanjoanense, they had a final chance for another title with 6 points less than first placed Sal Rei's as Sporting climbed up to fourth with 23 goals scored and 19 points, and six wins, same with Sanjoanense and Onze Estrelas. Sporting defeated Juventude 6-0 on March 18. Wins made by Sal Rei and Académica Operária who are in the top two position made Sporting faded entirely for another regional title. Sporting has 29 goals scored, second in Boa Vista.

Sporting Boa Vista plays at Estádio Municipal Arsénio Ramos, a multi-use stadium in Sal Rei, Cape Verde. It is currently used mostly for football matches. The stadium holds 500. The stadium is home to the island's best football clubs including Académica Operária and Sport Sal Rei Club. It is also the home of Sanjoanense. The club also practices at the stadium

Estádio Municipal Arsénio Ramos

Estádio Municipal Arsénio Ramos is a multi-use stadium in Boa Vista, Cape Verde, it is used for both football and athletics. Its location is northeast of the town center south of the town perimeter road, a bypass connecting the port and places in the east and south of the island. It is at the urban limit and close to the island's industrial area located in the east and former salt mines to the west along with its beach and its newly built hotels and villas. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Académica Operária, Sal-Rei, Sanjoanense and Sporting. The stadium holds 500 people. It is named for Arsénio Ramos, its size is 104x66 m and its grass is natural.

Associação Académica e Operária da Boa Vista is a sports club that its football (soccer) team had played in the Premier division and plays in the Boa Vista Island South Zone Division in Cape Verde. It is based in the island capital of Sal Rei in the island of Boa Vista and plays with Boa Vista's teams in the same stadium. Apart from football (soccer) there are also in the club basketball, volleyball and athletics departments.
