Sporting Clube de Portugal, otherwise referred to as Sporting CP or simply Sporting, or as Sporting Lisbon in other countries, is a Portuguese sports club based in Lisbon. Having various sports departments and sporting disciplines, it is best known for its men's professional football team playing in the Primeira Liga, the top flight of Portuguese football.
The Portuguese Roller Hockey First Division is the premier roller hockey league in Portugal. It was established in 1939 and Sporting CP were crowned as the first champions. Porto are the current champions and also the record winners, with 25 titles. The league is contested by 14 teams, with the top four teams qualifying for the following season's Rink Hockey Euroleague and the fifth to eighth placed teams qualifying for the World Skate Europe Cup. The bottom three teams are relegated to the second-tier Portuguese Roller Hockey Second Division.

Futebol Clube do Porto, commonly referred to as FC Porto, or simply Porto, is a professional roller hockey team based in Porto, Portugal. They compete in the Portuguese First Division, the top-tier league in the country, and dispute their home matches at the Dragão Arena.
The Portuguese Roller Hockey Cup is a Portuguese roller hockey knockout competition open to all domestic clubs. Following a series of knockout rounds, the competition winner is determined in a final-four mini-tournament, held in a neutral venue at the end of the season. The winners play in the following season's edition of the WSE Cup, unless they have already qualified for the WSE Champions League via league placing.
The Portuguese national ice hockey team is the national men's ice hockey team of Portugal. The team was previously controlled by the Federation of Portuguese Ice Sports (FPDG.) In September 2017, control was given to the Federação de Desportos de Inverno de Portugal, which also retains the associate membership within the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), which had been acquired by the FPDG on May 13, 1999. Portugal is currently not ranked in the IIHF World Rankings and is still not actively competing in any World Championship events.

Francisco Cecílio Velázquez, nicknamed Panchito, is an Argentine retired roller hockey player. As a forward, he is remembered as one of the greatest roller hockey players, being often compared to his idol António Livramento and called "the Maradona of hockey" by his fans.

The Angolan Roller Hockey SuperCup aka Supertaça João Garcia is an annual handball competition between the winners of the previous year's league champion and cup. In case the same team happens to win both the league and the cup, the match will be played between the league winner and the cup runner-up.

A noted athletics coach for both Sporting Clube de Portugal's athletics department and the Portuguese Athletics Federation where he worked as a technical director, he was also a vice president of Sporting CP. He was the coach of Olympic medalist Carlos Lopes, among other noted athletes. Established by Sporting Portugal, the international athletics meeting Meeting de Atletismo Professor Moniz Pereira is named in his honor.

Sporting CP have won 20 championships, 17 Taça de Portugal, 4 Taça da Liga, 9 Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira, 4 Campeonato de Portugal and 1 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in men's football, and through its athletics department was responsible, respectively, in 1984 and 1976, for Portugal's first Olympic gold and Olympic silver medals ever, as well as for other titles in other men's and women's sports, disciplines and competitions throughout its history. Being a multi-sports club, Sporting CP has described itself as Portugal's "biggest sporting powerhouse" due to the number of titles won by its teams and athletes in several sports and sport disciplines, including in the Olympic Games, where they do not represent the club.
