Spring Foundation School is a private non-denominational coeducational Christian school located in Bonny Island, Rivers State, Nigeria. The school was established to partner with parents and to provide a Christ-centered learning atmosphere where children are encouraged to grow intellectually and spiritually. Private schools, also known to many as independent schools, non-governmental, privately funded, or non-state schools, are not administered by local, state or national governments. Children who attend private schools may be there because they are dissatisfied with public schools in their area. They may be selected for their academic prowess, or prowess in other fields, or sometimes their religious background. Private schools retain the right to select their students and are funded in whole or in part by charging their students for tuition, rather than relying on mandatory taxation through public (government) funding; at some private schools students may be able to get a scholarship, lowering this tuition fee, dependent on a student's talents or abilities, need for financial aid, or tax credit scholarships that might be available. Some private schools are associated with a particular religion, such as Judaism or Roman Catholicism. For the past century, roughly one in 10 U.S families has chosen to enroll their children in private school.

School uniform standardized outfit worn by students of an educational institution

A school uniform is a uniform worn by students primarily for a school or otherwise educational institution. They are common in primary and secondary schools in various countries. Although often used interchangeably, there is an important distinction between dress codes and school uniforms: according to scholars such as Nathan Joseph, clothing can only be considered a uniform when it "(a) serves as a group emblem, (b) certifies an institution's legitimacy by revealing individual's relative positions and (c) suppresses individuality." An example of a uniform would be requiring white button-downs and ties for boys and pleated skirts for girls, with both wearing blazers. A uniform can even be as simple as requiring collared shirts, or restricting colour choices and limiting items students are allowed to wear. A dress code, on the other hand, is much less restrictive, and focuses "on promoting modesty and discouraging anti-social fashion statements", according to Marian Wilde. Examples of a dress code would be not allowing ripped clothing, no logos or limiting the amount of skin that can be shown.

Houses

Every student admitted to the school is assigned to one of its four houses. These houses participate in various sporting and cultural competitions throughout the year. The current houses are: Nelson Mandela (Blue), Mahatma Gandhi (Yellow), Martin Luther King (Green) and Lord Lugard (Red). [1]

Achievements

In 2015, the school won the NNPC/MPN Quiz Competition in Bonny, scoring 34 points. [2]
