Springman Records

Springman Records is an independent record label founded in 1998 by Avi Ehrlich that was run out of his parents' garage in Cupertino, California, until late 2005, when Ehrlich moved the label to Sacramento. The label's official slogan is "Friendly Punks" though many other styles of music appear on the label, such as indie rock, rockabilly, ska, folk music, pop punk, and hardcore. [1]

In 2007, Springman stopped releasing albums, but launched Silver Sprocket, [2] a bicycle club that also releases records with a more collective and community-oriented philosophy. Silver Sprocket members jokingly refer to themselves as a cult on their Myspace page.[ citation needed ]

The group has been involved in political and community-related projects around Sacramento. As an imprint, Silver Sprocket has released albums, clothing, toys, and art-related projects.

Now based in Ehrlich's San Francisco Victorian, Silver Sprocket's business side works with numerous bands and graphic artists, including Mitch Clem of the Nothing Nice To Say webcomic to release his merchandise and managing his record label, Face Palm Records. [3]

The label has also released compilation CDs and assorted projects featuring bands such as Alkaline Trio, The Ataris, Down By Law, Mates of State, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, No Use for a Name, Swingin' Utters, Thrice, Tsunami Bomb and Xiu Xiu.

Their YouTube channel, which features artists in their current roster, has 68 thousand subscribers and 90,521,349 views.

Big D and the Kids Table

Big D and the Kids Table is a ska punk band formed in October 1995 in Boston, Massachusetts when its members converged in college. Their first release was on their own Fork in Hand Records label, but have since teamed with Springman Records and SideOneDummy. The band has been noted for its strict DIY work ethic, such as engineering, producing, and releasing their own albums and videos and self-promotion of their own shows.

Mitch Andrew Clem is an American cartoonist best known for his web comics Nothing Nice To Say, San Antonio Rock City, and My Stupid Life.

Folk punk is a fusion of folk music and punk rock. It was popularized in the early 1980s by the Pogues in Britain, and by Violent Femmes in the United States. Folk punk achieved some mainstream success in that decade. In more recent years, its subgenres Celtic punk and Gypsy punk have experienced some commercial success.

Gypsy punk

Gypsy punk is a hybrid musical genre that crosses traditional Romani music with punk rock. One of the first rock groups to incorporate elements of punk and Gypsy music was Motherhead Bug, which was active mostly in the early 1990s. A broader audience became aware of the genre after the band Gogol Bordello released the album Gypsy Punks: Underdog World Strike, with front man Eugene Hütz describing their performance as a "Gypsy Punk Cabaret".

<i>Trans-Continental Hustle</i> 2010 studio album by Gogol Bordello

Trans-Continental Hustle is the fifth album by gypsy punk band Gogol Bordello, released on April 27, 2010. Produced by Rick Rubin, Trans-Continental Hustle primarily draws inspiration from frontman Eugene Hütz's life in Brazil, where he had been living since 2008. This album is Gogol Bordello's major record label debut. The collaboration with Rubin was initiated after guitarist Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine saw Gogol Bordello perform in Los Angeles and recommended that Rubin look into the band. "Immigraniada ", the fifth track on the album, has received heavy airplay on Sirius XM Radio's Faction Channel 41 as well as other genre stations. At least two of Faction's shows have played the single, including Faction's The Jason Ellis Show and Faction with Christian James Hand.

Tera Melos

Tera Melos is an American band from Sacramento, California formed in 2004. They incorporate many styles of rock, ambient electronics and unconventional song structures. They are currently a three-piece, consisting of guitarist/keyboardist/vocalist Nick Reinhart and bassist Nathan Latona, as well as drummer John Clardy who joined the group in 2008. Tera Melos play a brand of music characterized by quickly alternating rhythmic patterns, start-stop dynamics, improvisation, two-handed tapping on the guitar, extended open-ended bridges, and the use of effect pedals and samplers. Though the band has typically eschewed the label of math rock, they are considered recent innovators of the genre.

Silver Sprocket Bicycle Club (SSBC) is a San Francisco-based bicycle club and independent record label, founded in 2007 by Avi Ehrlich of Springman Records. In addition to publishing records, Silver Sprocket also supports a range of independent musicians and other community-based initiatives.

The Secretions were an American punk rock band from Sacramento, California, United States. Formed in the year 1991, the band had released numerous albums and singles, and toured the US and internationally.

Bobby Joe Ebola and the Children MacNuggits

Bobby Joe Ebola and the Children MacNuggits are an American acoustic folk-rock duo from Pinole, California. Formed in 1995, the traditional incarnation of the band consists of vocalist Corbett Redford III and guitarist/vocalist Dan Abbott. The duo is often joined onstage and in the studio by numerous musicians and friends for full band stage performances and recordings. Early performances featured occasional backup vocals from John Geek, also singer for Fleshies. Both Abbott, Redford and Geek were founding members of the indie label S.P.A.M. Records, and co-organizers of Geekfest, a series of free all-ages music festivals held in the late 1990s, begun largely in response to the band's rejection from a then insular East Bay punk scene centered on 924 Gilman.

<i>Seekers and Finders</i> 2017 studio album by Gogol Bordello

Seekers and Finders is the seventh studio album by Gypsy-punk band Gogol Bordello. It was released in August 2017 under Cooking Vinyl and is their first studio album since 2013's Pura Vida Conspiracy. This is the first Gogol Bordello album produced by frontman Eugene Hütz.
