Squashsite (referring to squashsite.co.uk) is a sport website that provides squash news, results, squash tournament coverage. Squashsite is owned and co-founded by Steve Cubbins and Framboise Gommendy. Individual users can use an RSS reader to be automatically notified of updates on this site and other newsfeeds, and other websites can also 'subscribe' to the newsfeed to provide their users with the latest squash headlines. Squashsite is also available in French.

Squash (sport) Racquet sport

Squash is a racket and ball sport played by two (singles) or four players in a four-walled court with a small, hollow rubber ball. The players alternate in striking the ball with their racquets onto the playable surfaces of the four walls of the court. The object of the game is to hit the ball in such a way that the opponent is not able to play a valid return. About 20 million people play squash regularly world-wide in over 185 countries. The governing body of Squash, the World Squash Federation (WSF), is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), but the sport is not part of the Olympic Games, despite a number of applications. Supporters continue to lobby for its incorporation in a future Olympic program.

RSS family of web feed formats

RSS is a type of web feed which allows users and applications to access updates to websites in a standardized, computer-readable format. These feeds can, for example, allow a user to keep track of many different websites in a single news aggregator. The news aggregator will automatically check the RSS feed for new content, allowing the content to be automatically passed from website to website or from website to user. This passing of content is called web syndication. Websites usually use RSS feeds to publish frequently updated information, such as blog entries, news headlines, or episodes of audio and video series. RSS is also used to distribute podcasts. An RSS document includes full or summarized text, and metadata, like publishing date and author's name.

French language Romance language

French is a Romance language of the Indo-European family. It descended from the Vulgar Latin of the Roman Empire, as did all Romance languages. French evolved from Gallo-Romance, the spoken Latin in Gaul, and more specifically in Northern Gaul. Its closest relatives are the other langues d'oïl—languages historically spoken in northern France and in southern Belgium, which French (Francien) has largely supplanted. Financial troubles

In 5 years time, they managed to produce an annual income of £20,000 through sponsors and official tournament website fees. They were not able to receive subsistence from the three main bodies: the World Squash Federation (WSF), the Professional Squash Association (PSA) and the Women's International Squash Players Association (WISPA). A meeting was set up in Manchester with the Cardiff-based PSA, the men's tour body, to discuss a potential partnership, however, a last-minute change from the governing body left it with no alternative but to quit the site.

Professional Squash Association

The Professional Squash Association (PSA) is the governing body for the men's and women's professional squash circuit. The body operates in a similar fashion to the ATP and the WTA for tennis. The PSA World Tour involves over 200 tournaments annually all over the globe. Over 800 players from all the 5 continents are registered with the PSA and rankings are updated monthly based on players' performances.

Rami Ashour Egyptian squash player

Ramy Mohamed Ashour is a retired professional squash player from Egypt, widely regarded as one of the best squash players in the history of the sport. Thanks to the constant training with his older brother, Hisham Ashour, also a professional squash player, Ramy became the youngest player to reach number one in the world since the 1980s, as well as being the first ever two time World Junior Squash Champion. On April 22, 2019, at the age of 31, Ashour announced his retirement from professional Squash.

Qatar Classic squash tournament

The Qatar Classic is an annual international squash tournament that takes place in Doha, Qatar in October or November. The event was re-established in 2001. Between 1992 and 1997, the tournament was formerly known as the Qatar International. The tournament features both men and women, the men's event is part of the PSA World Series and the women's event is part of the WSA World Series.

The Malaysian Open Squash Championships is an annual squash tournament that takes place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in July. The event is organised by the Squash Racquets Association Of Malaysia and is the most prestigious squash tournament in Malaysia. The event was established in 1975.

2011 Mens World Team Squash Championships

The 2011 Men's World Team Squash Championships is the men's edition of the 2011 World Team Squash Championships organized by the World Squash Federation, which serves as the world team championship for squash players. The event were held in Paderborn, Germany and took place from August 21 to August 27, 2011. The tournament was organized by the World Squash Federation and the German Squash Association. The Egypt team won his third World Team Championships beating the English team in the final.

The Women's Squash Association (WSA) was the governing body for the women's professional squash circuit between 2011 and 2014. It was based in London, England. The body operated in a similar fashion to the WTA for tennis. The WSA World Tour involved over 100 tournaments annually all over the globe. Over 250 players were registered with the WSA and rankings were updated monthly based on players' performances. In November 2014, the WSA and the PSA announced a historic merger between the two associations.[3] A decision was reached that will see the PSA operate as the governing body for both the women's and men's ranks from January 1, 2015.

Sky Open

The Sky Open is a men's squash tournament held in Cairo, Egypt. It was part of the PSA World Series in 2009 and 2010, the highest level of men's professional squash competition.

Guhan Senthilkumar is an Indian professional squash player. As of March 2018, he was ranked number 225 in the world, which made him the 7th highest internationally ranked Indian squash player. As a junior, he won the 2017 Penang Open. He has competed in the main draw of multiple professional PSA tournaments.

Mostafa Asal is an Egyptian professional squash player. As of July 2018, he was ranked number 71 in the world.

The Tour de las Américas de Squash is part of the PSA World Tour and consists of a series of professional squash tournaments held yearly in Argentina, Paraguay, Brazil and Bolivia.

The Montréal Open is a yearly professional men's squash tournament held in Montréal, Canada. It takes place every year in late February/early March. It is part of the PSA World Tour. In its current incarnation it is a PSA25 tournament, down from PSA35 in the past.
