Sri Lanka competed at the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games in Isle of Man from 7 to 13 September 2011. The Sri Lankan National Olympic Committee selected 25 competitors to participate in 5 different sports. Sri Lanka finished in the 17th place with a silver medal and one bronze medal. [1]
The 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games, officially known as the IV Commonwealth Youth Games is a multi-sport event which took place in the British Crown Dependency of Isle of Man from 7 to 13 September 2011. As per the original quadrennial cycle, the Games were scheduled for 2012. However, the Commonwealth Games Federation at its general assembly in 2005 decided to move the Games within one year before the Summer Olympics. The Bowl Stadium at the National Sports Centre, Douglas staged the opening ceremony on 7 September 2011. The closing ceremony was held on Douglas Promenade & the Villa Marina on 13 September.
At the 2002 Commonwealth Games, the athletics events were held at the City of Manchester Stadium on 26–30 July 2002. The route for the marathon event crossed Manchester city centre and finished in the stadium. The race walk events began alongside the Lowry Centre at Salford Quays. There were twenty-five men's events and 23 women's events; the schedules were identical except that there were men's 3000 metres steeplechase and 50 kilometres walk events. Pole vaulter Dominic Johnson won a bronze medal, Saint Lucia's only medal of the Games.
Boxing at the 2010 Commonwealth Games was held at the Talkatora Stadium. The training venue for the event was in Delhi University 4 Rings. The events took place on 5 - 11, 13 October 2010.
Shehan Abeyptiya is a Sri Lankan male athlete who won 3 gold medals at the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games.
Women started playing netball in India as early as 1926. The Sports Authority of India and the Government of India have provided much funding with the goal of improving the performance of the country's youth national team. Netball Federation of INDIA was established in 1978 by Ch Jagat Singh ChOuhan hailing from Haryana who was an alumnus of YMCA College of Physical Education of Madras and at the same year he organised the first national championships in Jind, Haryana with great contribution of Mrs Shashi Prabha. Mr Jagat Singh Chouhan was founder/father of Handball, Netball and Throwball games in India. His efforts in Germany during Munich Olympics (1972) helped in making these a legacy in India. India had a national team compete in the fifth Asian Netball Championships in Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2001. National team captains include Prachi Tehlan, who captained the side that competed in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.
Canada competed at the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games held in the British Crown Dependency of Isle of Man from 7 to 13 September 2011. Their participation marked their third Commonwealth Youth Games appearance. Canada was represented by the Commonwealth Games Canada, the association which is responsible for Commonwealth Games and Commonwealth movement in Canada. The delegation of 70 people included 56 competitors and 14 coaches and supporting staff.

Malaysia participated in the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games held in the British Crown Dependency of Isle of Man from 7 to 13 September 2011. Their participation marked their fourth Commonwealth Youth Games appearance, one of the highest among the Commonwealth of Nations. Malaysia was represented by the Olympic Council of Malaysia, which is responsible for Malaysian participation in the multi-sport events, including Commonwealth Games and Commonwealth Youth Games. Malaysian delegation consisted of 18 athletes competed in four different sports— athletics, badminton, cycling, and swimming. This was an increase in the number of athletes from the nation's last appearance at the Games, when 10 athletes were sent to the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games in Pune. Malaysia dominated in the badminton events, winning all but one of the five gold medals on offer, the only other gold was won by P. V. Sindhu of India in women's singles. All the medals came from badminton.
Boxing competitions at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland were held from 25 July to 2 August at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre and were concluded on 2 August at The SSE Hydro. For the first time ever women's boxing was contested.

Matthew Duncan Abeysinghe is a competitive swimmer who has represented Sri Lanka at numerous international competitions. Abeysinghe trained under his coach and father, Manoj Abeysinghe, with Killer Whale Aquatics, until his departure for higher education, where he resumed his training at Ohio State University in the US. Abeysinghe is regarded as the greatest swimmer and one of the most accomplished athletes Sri Lanka has ever produced.
Kyle Abeysinghe is a Sri Lankan national swimmer who has represented his country at several international competitions. At the domestic level, Abeysinghe holds numerous national records, has been national champion several times, and is a member of the Killer Whale Aquatic Club, under his coach and father, Manoj Abeysinghe.
The swimming competitions at the 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games in Nassau, The Bahamas took place from 19 to 22 July at the Betty Kelly Kenning Swim Complex. A total of 184 athletes from 45 nations contested 35 different events. Each Commonwealth Games Association was allowed to enter up to two swimmers and one relay per event. In the Games, age limits set by the Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA) for world Junior competitions were followed, according to which the age limit for boys is set to 15–18 years and for girls its 14–17 years of age.
Jacqueline Guan is an Australian badminton player. In 2011, she won the girls' doubles title at the Australian Junior International tournament partnered with Gronya Somerville. At the same year, she and Somerville represented their country competed at the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games. The duo lose the girls' doubles bronze medal match to Sri Lankan pair with the score 12–21, 21–19, and 16–21. She also competed at the 2011 and 2012 World Junior Championships. In 2014, she won the gold medal at the Oceania Championships in the women's doubles event and a silver medal in the mixed doubles event. In July 2014, she competed at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.

Gymnastics competitions at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast, Australia, were held from April 5 to 9, 2018 (artistic) and 11 to 13 (rhythmic) at the Coomera Indoor Sports Centre. A total of 14 artistic gymnastics events were held, along with six rhythmic gymnastics events.
Cycling at the 2018 Commonwealth Games was held at the Currumbin Beachfront (road), Nerang National Park, both of which are located in the Gold Coast and Anna Meares Velodrome from 5 to 14 April.
Swimming at the 2018 Commonwealth Games was held at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre in the Gold Coast, Australia from 5 to 10 April. A total of 50 events were scheduled. Of the 50, 38 were for able-bodied athletes. The remaining 12 were for para sport athletes.
Artistic Gymnastics was one of the seven sports of the 2011 Commonwealth Youth Games. Between 9 and 11 September 2011, the girls' events were held in Manx Gymnastics Centre of Excellence and the boys' events were held at the Ellan Vannin Gymnastics Club, both in Douglas, Isle of Man. Artistic gymnastics was previously held at the Commonwealth Youth Games in 2004 and 2000, but it has not been held since.
