Srishtidnyan is a monthly science magazine published from Pune, India in Marathi language. It was started in 1928. Its 1000th issue was published in July, 2011. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] In 2016, a programme was launched with the help of donors to make available the magazine to rural schools in Maharashtra free of cost with the aim to promote scientific inquiry amongst rural students. [6]

Pune, formerly spelled Poona (1857–1978), is the second largest city in the Indian state of Maharashtra, after Mumbai. Marathi is an Indo-Aryan language spoken predominantly by around 83 million Marathi people of Maharashtra, India. It is the official language and co-official language in the Maharashtra and Goa states of Western India, respectively, and is one of the 22 scheduled languages of India. There were 83 million speakers in 2011; Marathi ranks 19th in the list of most spoken languages in the world. Marathi has the third largest number of native speakers in India, after Hindi and Bengali. Marathi has some of the oldest literature of all modern Indian languages, dating from about 900 AD. The major dialects of Marathi are Standard Marathi and the Varhadi dialect. Koli, Malvani Konkani has been heavily influenced by Marathi varieties.

Maharashtra State in western, southern and central India

Maharashtra is a state considered to be part of western, central, southern and south-central India. It is the second-most populous state and third-largest state by area in India. Spread over 307,713 km2 (118,809 sq mi), it is bordered by the Arabian Sea to the west, the Indian states of Karnataka and Goa to the south, Telangana and Chhattisgarh to the east, Gujarat and Dadra and Nagar Haveli to the north west, and Madhya Pradesh to the north. It is also the world's second-most populous subnational entity. It was formed by merging the western and south-western parts of the Bombay State, Berar and Vidarbha, and the north-western parts of the Hyderabad State and splitting Saurashtra by the States Reorganisation Act. It has over 112 million inhabitants and its capital, Mumbai, has a population around 18 million making it the most populous urban area in India. Nagpur hosts the winter session of the state legislature. Pune is known as 'Oxford of the East' due to the presence of several well-known educational institutions.

He was the president of prestigious 90th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan held in Dombivali. Kale is also member of general Council of Sahitya Akademi, India.

Paresh Mokashi Indian film director

Paresh Mokashi is an Indian filmmaker, producer, actor and Theatre director-producer; working predominantly in Marathi cinema and Marathi theatre. He started working as a backstage worker for theatre and did few minor roles for plays as well as films. Mokashi made his directorial debut for theatre with the Marathi play, Sangeet Debuchya Mulee in 1999. He continued to work for theatre and made his directorial debut for cinema with the 2009 Marathi feature film, Harishchandrachi Factory. The film depicts the making of India's first full-length feature film, Raja Harishchandra (1913), made by Dadasaheb Phalke. The film was acclaimed critically and won several awards. It was also selected as India's official entry to 82nd Academy Awards in the Best Foreign Language Film category.

Dnyanesh Maharao is a writer and editor of renowned Marathi weekly magazine Chitralekha. He is in active journalist since 1 June 1989. Earlier he was Assistant Editor of Marathi weekly magazine Vivek, from 1 April 1985 to 31 May 1989. He has written more than 20 books in Marathi as well as in English. He has written a famous book: Thackeray : life & style.

Madhav Yeshwant Gadkari (1928–2006) was an Indian journalist and the editor of Loksatta, a popular Marathi daily published by the Indian Express Group. Manav Vikas Mission is an initiative of the Government of Maharashtra to increase Human Development Index of backward districts of Maharashtra, India. The programme was launched in 2006. Currently 125 tehsils/blocks from 22 districts come under this mission. The initiative focuses mainly on the health, income generation and education of populations in rural areas. Village students do not usually have appropriate facilities to study in the villages; the initiative provides free study rooms for village students. After observing that village girls abandon their educations midway because of the lengthy distance between high schools and villages, the state government also started providing free bus services to transport village girls from their native villages to high schools.

Sumitra Bhave and Sunil Sukthankar are an Indian filmmaker duo working predominantly in Marathi cinema and Marathi theatre. Bhave along with Sukthankar have made fourteen feature films, more than fifty short films, and four TV serials; all of which have been written by Bhave. The duo have won various national and international accolades.

Mayuri Deshmukh is an Indian Marathi actress who has acted in several Marathi television serials as well as movies. Born on 29 October in Mumbai, Mayuri started her formal career in acting field since year 2011.
