Land rights to the area were granted to merchant Augustine Herman by Lord Baltimore prior to 1686 but the Herman family was never able to lay proper claim to the title. [2]

The St Augustine Town Plan Historic District is a U.S. National Historic Landmark District encompassing the colonial heart of the city. It substantially encompasses the street plan of the city as contained within the bounds of walls built between the 16th and early 19th centuries. The district is bounded by Cordova, Orange, and St. Francis Streets, and Matanzas Bay. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1970, although its boundaries were not formally defined until 1986.
The Fish Island Site is a historic site south of St. Augustine, Florida. It is the site of one of Florida's earliest fruit plantations, and was established by Jesse Fish, from New York, who acquired the property in 1763. The plantation produced oranges, figs, peaches, pomegranates and limes. It is located on the Matanzas River. On June 13, 1972, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.

St. John Catholic Church is a Roman Catholic church in the unincorporated community of Fryburg in Pusheta Township, Auglaize County, Ohio, United States. The parish was established in 1848, the same year in which the community was platted, and construction was completed in 1850. A Catholic school in connection with the church was established in 1877. Both buildings feature fine architecture: the church includes Gothic Revival elements such as ornate pilasters and lancet windows, while the former school is a good example of Federal architecture.

The church and parish hall are in the Gothic Revival style, while the rectory is in the Colonial Revival style.
