The Ashanti Region is located in south Ghana and is third largest of 16 administrative regions, occupying a total land surface of 24,389 km2 (9,417 sq mi) or 10.2 per cent of the total land area of Ghana. In terms of population, however, it is the most populated region with a population of 4,780,380 according to the 2011 census, accounting for 19.4% of Ghana's total population. The Ashanti Region is known for its major gold bar and cocoa production. The largest city and regional capital is Kumasi.

Jirapa/Lambussie District is a former district that was located in Upper West Region, Ghana. Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988. Before the arrival of European settlers, who introduced a formal education system addressed to the elites, education in Ghana was mainly informal and based on apprenticeship. Pre-Independent Ghana was known as the Gold Coast. The economy of the pre-colonial Gold Coast was dependent on subsistence farming, in which farm produce was shared within households, and members of each household specialized in providing necessities. These included cooking utilities, shelter, clothing, and furniture. Trade with other households was therefore practiced on a very small scale. This made economic activities in the pre-colonial Gold Coast, a family institution: family-owned and family-controlled. As such, there was no need for employment outside the household that would have otherwise called for disciplines, values, and skills through a formal education system. After colonization, Ghana's economy became a hybrid of subsistence and formal economy.

Koforidua Senior High Technical School, is the best technical school in Ghana. The school is located at Koforidua, the capital of Eastern Region in southern Ghana. Koforidua technical also called Sec-Tech, is a Senior High School located in Koforidua in the Eastern Region of Ghana. As of December 2011, the school has over 2,200 students. Pope John Senior High School and Minor Seminary, is an all-boys boarding school, located at Effiduase, Koforidua, in the Eastern Region of Ghana. It was established in 1958 by Bishop Joseph Oliver Bowers SVD as a Catholic seminary for boys who wished to become priests. Students are offered courses such as general arts, general science, business and visual arts to pursue and after their stay in the school, sit an external examination called the West African Senior School Certificate Examination to be placed in any of the tertiary institutions in the country.

Notre Dame Seminary Senior High School is an all male second cycle educational institution founded by Very Rev. Fr. Armand Lebel. The first batch of thirty-one (31) students were admitted on September 16, 1960. It currently has a population of about five-hundred (500) students studying either General Science or General Arts. The school is located in Navrongo in the Kasena-Nankana Municipality of the Upper East Region of Ghana.
St. Mary's Seminary/Senior High School (SMASCO), formerly St. Mary's Seminary Secondary School, is a boys-only second cycle institution in Lolobi, in the Oti Region of Ghana. The Oti Region was carved out of the northern part of the existing Volta Region.
