St. Ignatius Hospital is a former manor hospital [1] located in Colfax, Washington, United States, established in 1892 by the Sisters of Providence. [2]
St. Ignatius Hospital was built in 1892 by the Sisters of Providence. [2] [3] The hospital was in operation until 1964, when it was shut down after the opening of Whitman Community Hospital. [2] The property served as an assisted living home until 2000. [4] In 2003, the building was officially shut down and abandoned. [1]
In 2015, the hospital was opened for public tours, based on claims that the site is haunted. [1] [5] According to a 2017 report, the tours earned over $30,000 between 2015 and 2016, the proceeds of which go to the Colfax Chamber of Commerce. [6]
In early 2021 the hospital was purchased yet again. The new owners are working on partially renovating the hospital for tours. The date of reopening is yet to be determined.
The hospital was featured in an episode of the television series Paranormal Lockdown in 2017. [7]

Colfax is a city in and the county seat of Whitman County, Washington, United States. The population was 2,782 at the 2020 census, making Colfax the second largest city in Whitman County behind Pullman. It is situated amidst wheat-covered hills in a valley at the confluence of the north and south forks of the Palouse River. U.S. Route 195, which forms the town's main street, intersects with State Route 26 at the north end of town; in the past, Colfax also lay at the junction of three major railway lines. It is part of the Pullman–Moscow combined statistical area. It was named after Schuyler Colfax, the Vice President of the United States from 1869 to 1873.
Poveglia is a small island located between Venice and Lido in the Venetian Lagoon, of northern Italy. A small canal divides the island into two separate parts. The island first appears in the historical record in 421, and was populated until the residents fled warfare in 1379. For more than 100 years beginning in 1776, the island was used as a quarantine station for those suffering the plague and other diseases, and later as a mental hospital.
