St. Johns County is a county in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Florida. As of the 2020 United States Census, its population was 273,425. The county seat and largest incorporated city is St. Augustine, although the largest community, St. Johns, is much larger. St. Johns County is part of the Jacksonville metropolitan area.
The town of Marineland was established in 1940 and is in Flagler and St. Johns counties, Florida, United States. The population was 16 in the 2010 census. Marineland is located 18 miles (29 km) south of St. Augustine along Route A1A. The Marineland marine park and the town of Marineland have become synonymous, however many do not realize that Marineland is a town in its own right. Like all proper municipalities, Marineland has its own local governing body complete with a mayor and city council board that meets monthly to discuss the town's affairs. Butler Beach is a census-designated place (CDP) in St. Johns County, Florida, United States. The population was 4,978 at the time of the 2020 United States Census. Established by Frank B. Butler, who had been successful operating a grocery store and became a political activist, it was a resort for African Americans. The Lincolnville businessman bought land in the area between the Atlantic Ocean and the Matanzas River, and offered beach access to African Americans. It was the only beach open to them between Jacksonville and Daytona Beach.

The Marjorie Harris Carr Cross Florida Greenway is a protected green belt corridor, more than one and a half miles (1.6 km) wide in places, that was the former route of the proposed Cross Florida Barge Canal. It is named for the leader of opposition to the Cross Florida Barge Canal, Marjorie Harris Carr, and was originally a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers canal project to connect the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean across Florida for barge traffic. Two sections were built, but the project was ultimately cancelled because of local opposition related to environmental concerns, including protecting the state's water supply and conservation of the Ocklawaha River Valley ecosystem, as well as national opposition for the costs being perceived as "government waste" with "limited national value." The greenway is part of the system of Florida State Parks, including the Santos Trail System, and is managed by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
South Channel or Broad Sound South Entrance Channel is one of three shipping channels in the United States connecting Boston Harbor to Massachusetts Bay near Boston, Massachusetts. Starting at the eastern end of the President’s Roads anchorage, the channel passes north of Lovell's Island and Ram’s Head Flats, then northwest of Aldridge Ledge and the Devils Back. It is dredged to a 30-foot depth.

Little Econlockhatchee River is a major tributary of the Econlockhatchee River. It originates at an unnamed lake at 28°33′47″N81°17′00″W, near Orlando, Florida in southeast Orange County. It is approximately 18 miles (29 km) long, from unincorporated Orange County to its mouth at Oviedo. It is located within the Middle St. Johns River Basin of the St. Johns River Water Management District. It is similar to the Econlockhatchee, with a forest in its floodplain. As far downstream as Blanchard Park, the river acts like a canal. The source elevation is 72 feet (22 m), higher than the source elevation of the tributary of the St. Johns River, the Econlockhatchee River. In August 2008, the river rose a record 4 feet (1.2 m) over its banks due to Tropical Storm Fay.
Flagler Estates is an unincorporated community in Flagler and St. Johns counties in the U.S. state of Florida. It is located 8 mi (13 km) southeast of Hastings. The Flagler County portion of Flagler Estates is part of the Deltona–Daytona Beach–Ormond Beach, FL metropolitan statistical area, while the St. Johns County portion is part of the Jacksonville Metropolitan Statistical Area. As of May 2006, there were an estimated 1,500 families residing in Flagler Estates.
