The St. Joseph the Worker Church [1] is a religious building belonging to the Catholic Church and is located in the town of Gros Islet [2] in the district of the same name on the northern tip of Saint Lucia. [3] [4]
The parish follows the Roman or Latin rite and is part of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Castries (Archidioecesis Castriensis). Its history dates back to the first missionaries who arrived on the scene in 1749, although not known precisely the date on which was built the first church believed it was in 1771. In 1778 the chapel was replaced by a church. In 1850 the construction of another church that was completed in 1876 being dedicated to Saint Joseph. The present church was consecrated in 1967.
Saint Lucia is one of many small land masses composing the insular group known as the Windward Islands. Unlike large limestone areas such as Florida, Cuba, and the Yucatan Peninsula, or the Bahamas, which is a small island group composed of coral and sand, Saint Lucia is a typical Windward Island formation of volcanic rock that came into existence long after much of the region had already been formed.

Dauphin was a Quarter on the Caribbean island nation of Saint Lucia. The district was merged with Gros-Islet in 2014. It contains a village of the same name, located at 14°02′N60°54′W. It was home to Amerindians, the Island Caribs, who settled there. To this day, there are ruins which serve as a reminder of people who lived there long before Christopher Columbus crossed the Atlantic from Europe.

The Metropolitan Archdiocese of Castries is an archdiocese of the Latin Church of the Catholic Church in the Caribbean. The archdiocese consists of the entirety of the former British dependency of Saint Lucia and is a metropolitan see, the suffragans of the Castries Province being the Dioceses of Roseau, Saint George's in Grenada, St. John's-Basseterre and Kingstown. The archdiocese is a member of the Antilles Episcopal Conference.
Peter Lenard "Spider" Montoute is a Saint Lucian politician and former Minister and parliamentary representative for Gros Islet for the United Workers Party (UWP). Montoute lost his seat in the 2021 Saint Lucian general election to Kenson Casimir; this was a landslide victory for the Saint Lucia Labour Party.
Pigeon Island is a 44-acre (180,000 m2) islet located in Gros Islet in the northern region of Saint Lucia. Once isolated from the country in the Caribbean Sea, the island was artificially joined to the western coast of mainland in 1972 by a man-made causeway built from dirt excavated to form the Rodney Bay Marina. Composed of two peaks the island is a historic site with numerous forts such as an 18th-century British fort and Fort Rodney both used by the British to spy on French Ships from neighbouring Martinique. In 1979 it was named a national park and again in 1992 it became a national landmark under the control of the Saint Lucia National Trust (SLNT). Today, Pigeon Island is the home and major venue of the Saint Lucia Jazz Festival.
Babonneau is one of the regions of the Caribbean island nation of Saint Lucia. Babonneau is located in the north of the island in the Castries Quarter. There are extensive rain forests in the region, which is an important source of fresh water for Saint Lucia. Babonneau is also an electoral constituency of Saint Lucia represented in the House of Assembly of Saint Lucia, which extends into Gros Islet District.

The island hosts gastronomic events throughout the year, with dishes such as spring roll of shrimp and bacon, fresh grilled lobster, Chinese noodle salad with coconut milk, and grilled beef fillet etc. Notable restaurants include Eddy's, located opposite the Anglican church in Gustavia which serves colonial Southeast Asian cuisine, La Mandala in Gustavia serving far eastern cuisine, Le Repaire on the harbor in Gustavia serving Creole food, K'fe Massai in Centre'lOasis in Lorient inspired by French North Africa, Maya's in Saint Jean which serves French Creole cuisine, Zanzibarth in Saint Jean which serves French, Belgian and Italian cuisine and Do Brasil on Shell Beach, based on Brazilian and Thai cuisine.
Garraway Hotel is a hotel located on the quayside of Roseau, Dominica. It lies between the Fort Young Hotel and right next to The Dominica Museum. In the colonial period this area was part of the Fort Young from 1770. This hotel was built in 1994. Located in a mint green and white building, the five-storey hotel contains 31 rooms and is operated by the Garraway family. The hotel contains an interior courtyard, rooftop terrace, the Balisier Creole cuisine restaurant on the second floor, a duty-free shop on the ground floor and the Ole Jetty Bar. The rooms are fitted with king-sized beds or double beds, with rattan furniture and floral-print fabrics.
Île Frégate is a small, uninhabited island in the Caribbean Sea located off the north coast of Saint Barthélemy, an overseas collectivity of France. Île Frégate is situated within the Nature Reserve of Saint Bartholomew, which was established in 1996 with the objective of conserving coral reefs, sea grass beds and marine life.
Protestant Cay is a four-acre triangular islet in the Christiansted Harbor, 200 yards north of Christiansted. The island is home to a resort, the Hotel on the Cay, which is home to a protected sand beach, small shop and beach bar. It also has the closest beach to Downtown Christiansted. With one of the ferries, which run from 7 a.m. to 12 a.m., every ten minutes, it will only take about two minutes to get there. The ride is free of charge after 4 p.m., and for guests of the Hotel on the Cay. To get on the ferry, passengers have to stand near the boardwalk in front of the King Christian Hotel and wave to the boat captain on duty.
Cinnamon Cay is a cay in the United States Virgin Islands, situated approximately 0.7 miles east of Trunk Cay in the Cinnamon Bay, and 100 yards from the shore at Cinnamon Bay Beach on Saint John island. It has a height of 32 feet. The islet is uninhabited, but regularly visited by scuba-divers, snorkelers and kayakers. Cinnamon Bay Watersports offers kayaks and snorkeling equipment for travelers to the cay. Cinnamon Cay is mostly covered with grass and cactus, and is located within the Virgin Islands National Park.
The Basilica of St. Anne It is a religious building that functions as Catholic Minor Basilica and at the same time as co-cathedral of the Diocese of Willemstad on the island of Curaçao in the Caribbean Sea off the coast of Venezuela. The other being the main cathedral dedicated to Our Lady the Queen of the Holy Rosary of the same city.
