The St. Martin of Tours' Church [1] (Dutch : Sint Martinus van Tours Kerk) is a religious building is located at 51 Voorstraat, Voorstraat, in the city of Philipsburg, [2] Sint Maarten [3] [ self-published source ] [4] on the Dutch side of the Caribbean island of St. Martin [5] in the Lesser Antilles east of the Caribbean Sea or Sea The Antilles.

It is a temple that follows the Roman or Latin rite and depends on the Catholic Diocese of Willemstad based on the island of Curaçao. It is also one of the three Catholic churches in the Dutch part of the island being the other two, Mary Star of the Sea in Simpson Bay (Maria Sterre der Zee kerk), and Christ Risen in South Reward .

Most Masses and religious services at the temple are conducted in English with a single Mass in Spanish the Sundays.

The present church on Front Street has its origins in 1844 when the first stone of the temple was laid. In 1933 he raised the need for expansion and this was carried out and completed on May 30, 1952.

Nicole de Weever is a dancer and choreographer from Sint Maarten. After completing her primary schooling in the Caribbean, she moved to the United States, completing education. She has performed in film, on television and appeared on Broadway in the musical Fela! during its initial run in 2009 and reprise in 2012, after a world tour. She was honored as a cultural ambassador by the government of Sint Maarten in 2009.

Island council elections were held in the Netherlands Antilles on 7 May and 21 May 1999 to elect the members of the island councils of its five island territories. The election was won by the Party for the Restructured Antilles in Curaçao, the Windward Islands People's Movement in Saba, the Sint Eustatius Alliance in Sint Eustatius, and the Democratic Party in Sint Maarten.
