Karnataka is a state in the southwestern region of India. It was formed as Mysore State on 1 November 1956, with the passage of the States Reorganisation Act, and renamed Karnataka in 1973. The state is bordered by the Lakshadweep Sea to the west, Goa to the northwest, Maharashtra to the north, Telangana to the northeast, Andhra Pradesh to the east, Tamil Nadu to the southeast, and Kerala to the southwest. With 61,130,704 inhabitants at the 2011 census, Karnataka is the eighth-largest state by population, comprising 31 districts. With 15,257,000 residents, the state capital Bengaluru is the largest city of Karnataka.

He also served as Minister for Civil Aviation, Tourism, Sports, Urban Development, and Poverty Alleviation.

Green Line of Namma Metro was built along with the Purple Line during the first phase of construction of the metro rail system for the city of Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. The 30.5 km (19.0 mi) line connects Madavara in the northwest to Silk Institute in the south. The line connects the industrial centers of Peenya and Yeshwanthpur along Tumakuru Road in the north with the central hub of Majestic and the southern residential areas of Bangalore such as Basavanagudi, Jayanagar, Banashankari, Konanakunte Cross, Thalaghattapura along Kanakapura Road. Green Line is mostly elevated, with 26 elevated and 3 underground stations. The Line passes through Majestic station which is an interchange station between Green and Purple Lines.
Basavaraj Somappa Bommai is an Indian politician and engineer who is currently serving as the Lok Sabha MP of Haveri and previously served as the 23rd Chief Minister of Karnataka from 18 July 2021 to 19 May 2023. He formerly served as the Interim Leader of the Opposition in Karnataka Legislative Assembly as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and he was former member of the Janata Dal and Janata Dal (United). He was a Member of the Legislative Assembly in the legislature of Karnataka for Shiggaon, from where he has been elected four times since 2008. Between 1998 and 2008, he was a member of the Karnataka Legislative Council from Dharwad local authorities. He served as Minister for Water Resources and major and medium irrigation from 2008 to 2013, Home Affairs, Law and Parliamentary Affairs and Cooperation between 2019 and 2021 minister in charge of Haveri and Udupi districts from 2019 to 2021.

Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad is an autonomous engineering and technology institute in Dharwad, Karnataka, India. IIT Dharwad started functioning from July 2016 in a temporary campus, previously of the Water and Land Management Institute (WALMI) in Belur Industrial Area, on the outskirts of Dharwad city. It was formally inaugurated on 28 August 2016. IIT Dharwad's permanent campus is situated at Chikkamalligawad, Dharwad, Karnataka. The campus has been fully operational since March 2023, when it was inaugurated and dedicated to the nation by Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. For the academic year 2016–2017, the institute offered B.Tech courses in three branches, namely. Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Mechanical Engineering. Silk Institute is the elevated southern terminal metro station on the North-South corridor of the Green Line of Namma Metro in Bengaluru, India. This station was opened on 21 January 2021 to the public. This station is named after Karnataka State Sericulture Research and Development Institute, located at Kanakapura road. The station was inaugurated along with five other stations, as a part of the Green Line extension.
