St. Louis High School is an all-girls secondary school located in Rathmines, Dublin.
The school was founded in 1913 by the Sisters of St. Louis, a religious community of nuns which was founded in post-revolutionary France in 1842. The school crest symbolises loyalty to the French crown.

The school and others originally established by the Sisters of St. Louis are now under the trusteeship of The Le Cheile Schools Trust. [2] Le Chéile formally came into being on 1 September 2009 and offers a network of support for all St. Louis schools and staff. [3]
There are two school mottoes. The primary motto 'Dieu le Veult' which is old French for 'God Wills It' - the rallying cry of the Crusaders. The second motto is 'Ut sint unum' - for 'that they may be one'. [4]
In 2018, the school was ranked fourth in Ireland in terms of the number of students who progressed to third level and by the types of institutions to which the students progressed. [5]
Rathgar is a suburb of Dublin in Ireland. It was originally a village which from 1862 was part of the township of Rathmines and Rathgar; it was absorbed by the growing city and became a suburb in 1930. It lies about three kilometres south of the city centre.

It traces its origins back to Strasbourg in 1997, when three religious signed a spiritual act of union and vowed to remain united together in the heart of Christ until death; Father Louis Eugene Marie Bautain was influenced by this union and he and Mère Thérèse de la Croix officially founded the SSL in Juilly, France in 1842; the order was originally established to promote Christian education for young people and has set up a number of schools around the world.
