Staley Springs was a former unincorporated community located on the northwest shore of Henrys Lake in Fremont County, Idaho, United States, [1] that is now part of the city of Island Park. [2]

Description

The community was named after Ed Staley, an early settler in the area. [3] Prior to his purchase of the site, it was known as Sawtell's Fish Farm. Henrys Fork is a tributary river of the Snake River, approximately 127 miles (204 km) long, in southeastern Idaho in the United States. It is also referred to as the North Fork of the Snake River. Its drainage basin is 3,212 square miles (8,320 km2), including its main tributary, the Teton River. Its mean annual discharge, as measured at river mile 9.2 by the United States Geological Survey (USGS), is 2,096 cubic feet per second (59.4 m3/s), with a maximum daily recorded flow of 79,000 cubic feet per second (2,240 m3/s), and a minimum of 183 cubic feet per second (5.18 m3/s).

Henrys Lake Body of water

Caribou–Targhee National Forest

Caribou–Targhee National Forest is located in the states of Idaho and Wyoming, with a small section in Utah in the United States. The forest is broken into several separate sections and extends over 2.63 million acres (10,600 km2). To the east the forest borders Yellowstone National Park, Grand Teton National Park and Bridger–Teton National Forest. Most of the forest is a part of the 20-million-acre (81,000 km2) Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.

Last Chance was a former unincorporated community along Henrys Fork in Fremont County, Idaho, United States, near the city of Island Park. The site originally was promoted as the "last chance" resort for the next 40 miles (64 km), hence the name.

Thornton, Idaho, originally called Texas Siding, is a townsite founded in 1917. It exists today as a township of Madison County, Idaho.

Henrys Lake State Park

Henrys Lake State Park is a public recreation area located on the south shore on Henrys Lake thirteen miles (21 km) north of Island Park in Fremont County, Idaho, U.S.A. The state park occupies 585 acres (237 ha) off US 20 near Goose Bay and the Henrys Lake Outlet. Park facilities include hiking trails, boat ramp, campgrounds, and cabins. It is home to cutthroat trout, cutbow, moose, pronghorn, swans, pelicans, various waterfowl and sandhill cranes.
