The Stanford Cardinal women's lacrosse team is an NCAA Division I college lacrosse team representing Stanford University as part of the Atlantic Coast Conference. They play their home games at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium in Stanford, California.

Head coach

The Cardinal are led by head coach Amy Bokker. A graduate of College of William & Mary, Bokker was the head coach at American for one season before taking over at George Mason in 1998. In eleven seasons with the Patriots, Bokker compiled a record of 86-94, leading the team to a 12-5 record and a no. 16 national ranking in her final year in 2008, although the team never made the NCAA Tournament. Bokker came to Palo Alto in 2009, and in nine seasons, she has led the Cardinal to five conference tournament titles, two regular-season championships, and six NCAA Tournament bids. She has also coached seven All-Americans and has served as an assistant coach on the U.S. women's national team. [2]

Designated the Setsuko Ishiyama Director of Women's Basketball, VanDerveer led the Stanford Cardinal to three NCAA Women's Division I Basketball Championships: in 1990, 1992 and 2021. She stepped away from the Stanford program for a year to serve as the U.S. national team head coach at the 1996 Olympic Games. VanDerveer is the 1990 Naismith National Coach of the Year and a ten-time Pac-12 Coach of the Year. She is also one of only nine NCAA Women's Basketball coaches to win over 900 games, and one of ten NCAA Division I coaches – women's or men’s – to win 1,000 games. VanDerveer was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2002. On December 15, 2020, she passed Pat Summitt for most wins in women's college basketball history. On January 21, 2024, she won her 1,203rd game as a head coach, becoming the head coach with the most wins in college basketball history, women’s or men’s.

Previously, the team had competed in the American Athletic Conference, and before that the Big East Conference. Yasmin Farooq is an American rowing cox and the head coach of the University of Washington women's rowing team. She graduated from Waupun High School in 1984 at Waupun, Wisconsin. She attended the University of Wisconsin where she joined the rowing team in 1984 as a coxswain. She was a member of the 1986 national champion JV eight and served as captain and MVP of the team her senior year. A two-time Olympian and world champion in rowing, Farooq later became a college coach at Stanford University where she helped the Cardinal win its first ever Pac-12 and NCAA titles in rowing. At the University of Washington, her team swept the NCAA Championship for the first-time in history, then repeated the feat in 2019 setting NCAA records in all three events. She has been named Pac-12 coach of the year six times and national coach of the year three times. She was inducted into the USRowing Hall of Fame in 2014 and awarded the Ernestine Bayer Woman of the Year award by USRowing in 2017. In 2021, Farooq was inducted into the Wisconsin Athletics Hall of Fame.
