Stanley Bish (born 21 May 1951) is a Dutch former professional footballer.

Bish started his career with PSV in 1967 where he became the club's youngest ever debutant. During the course of his career he had spells across the Eredivisie and won the 1973 KNVB Beker with NAC Breda in 1973. He later had a short stint in Belgium with Berchem Sport before returning to the Netherlands where he retired in 1981.

Club career

Bish played at amateur level with Megacles and Wilhelmina '08 where he was spotted by PSV. He was handed his debut for the club at the age of 16 years and 102 days, thereby becoming PSV's youngest ever player. [1] Upon making his debut, Bish also became the Eredivisie's second youngest-ever player, after Wim Kras of Volendam. [2] He has since been surpassed by Mark van Bommel who made his debut for Fortuna Sittard in 1992 aged 16 years and 23 days. [3]

Bish made seven appearances for PSV between 1967 and 1969 when he was signed by DWS. He stayed only one season at the club, scoring 2 goals in 13 league appearances before joining NAC Breda in 1970. [1] Bish's only title came during his stint in Breda where he scored the opening goal in a 2–0 win over N.E.C. to lift the 1972–73 KNVB Cup. [4] He amassed 73 appearances for NAC between 1970 and 1973, scoring 23 goals before departing for newly promoted Eredivisie side Roda JC.

Bish stated that he had joined Roda as a result of NAC failing to meet his contract demands. [5] He scored his first goal for the club in a 2–1 loss to MVV Maastricht on 12 August 1973. The goal was historic in that it was Roda's first ever goal in the Eredivisie. [5] He became an immensely popular figure at the club and netted 24 goals in 64 appearances between 1973 and 1975. Bish then took the opportunity to double his wages with Berchem Sport in Belgium. He later revealed that it had been a mistake to leave Roda. He had seen the move to Belgium as an opportunity to eventually play for Anderlecht or Club Brugge but managed only six goals across all competitions for Berchem. After one season he sought to return to Roda and even underwent a medical but the deal never went through. [5]

Instead he joined FC Wageningen where he spent two seasons, scoring 21 goals in 67 appearances. During his time with Wageningen, Bish was part of an historic win over PSV where he scored in a 6–1 cup win over his former side. [1] He left the club in 1978 where he spent the final years of his career at VVV-Venlo, scoring 19 goals in 62 appearances before retiring in 1981 at the age of 30.

The Eredivisie 2008–09 is the 53rd season of Eredivisie since its establishment in 1955. PSV were the reigning champions. The season began on 29 August 2008 with a game between Vitesse Arnhem and FC Groningen and ended on 10 May 2009. A total of 18 teams take part in the league, consisting of 16 who competed in the previous season and two promoted from the Eerste Divisie. The teams promoted from the Eerste Divisie at the end of the previous season were champions FC Volendam, and play-off winners ADO Den Haag. AZ clinched their second title, their first coming in 1981.

During the 1994–95 Dutch football season, AFC Ajax competed in the Eredivisie. Ajax won a league-cup double. They won their 25th Dutch title in style, not losing a single match all season and scoring 106 goals. Ajax also won their fourth European Cup, defeating A.C. Milan 1–0 in the final. Ajax also won the Intercontinental Cup, defeating Gremio. This Ajax squad is considered to be one of the best teams in football history.

During the 1994–95 Dutch football season, PSV Eindhoven competed in the Eredivisie.

The 2012–13 season was Feyenoord's 105th season of play. It was their 57th season in the Eredivisie and its 91st consecutive season in the highest Dutch football division. The club ended its league campaign in third place, being undefeated at home, and reached the quarter-finals of the KNVB Cup. Their European campaign ended after four matches, two each in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League. It was the club's second season under manager Ronald Koeman.

The 2011–12 season was Feyenoord's 104th season of play, it was their 56th season in the Eredivisie and its 90th consecutive season in the highest Dutch football division. They ended their league campaign in second place, after winning ten of the last eleven games of the season. They reached the third round of the KNVB Cup. It was the first season with Ronald Koeman, who signed as manager of Feyenoord after former manager Mario Been resigned on 13 July 2011 due to a lack of trust from the squad.

During the 2013–14 FC Utrecht season, the club participated in the Eredivisie, KNVB Cup and UEFA Europa League.

During the 2017–18 season Vitesse participated in the Dutch Eredivisie, KNVB Cup, Johan Cruyff Shield and the UEFA Europa League.

During the 2017–18 season, Ajax participated in the Eredivisie and the KNVB Cup. They also participated in the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League but couldn't get past the qualification stage for either competitions. This marked the first time that Ajax did not qualify for the group stage of a UEFA club competition since the 1990–91 season, when they were excluded from competing in European football for a year due to the staafincident. The squad's first training took place on 29 June 2017.

During the 2017–18 season, PSV Eindhoven participated in the Dutch Eredivisie, the KNVB Cup and the UEFA Europa League. They won the Eredivisie by defeating Ajax 3-0 at the Philips Stadion.

The 2017–18 season was Feyenoord's 110th season of play, it marked its 62st season in the Eredivisie and its 96th consecutive season in the top flight of Dutch football. It was the third season with manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst, a former player who played seven seasons for Feyenoord and who played 106 times for Dutch national team. Feyenoord entered the KNVB Cup in the first round and the Champions League in the group stage.

The 2008–09 season was Feyenoord, in Dutch Eredivisie. the first season under new coach Gertjan Verbeek. On 14 January 2009, the bigger part of the players group declared they did not have any confidence in Gertjan Verbeek. Although the board and the supporters completely backed up Verbeek, the choice was made to sack the trainer because of financial considerations. The rest of the season Leon Vlemmings, who was Verbeek's assistant from the start of the season, was the manager.

The 2007–08 season was the first and last season under coach Bert van Marwijk before becoming the head coach of the Netherlands national football team This was his second spell at Feyenoord after he had managed the team from 2000 to 2004. This season was not the best of seasons in the Eredivisie finishing only 6th. However, the club won a big price: the KNVB Cup, which was the 11th time they had won the cup.

The 2000–01 season is Feyenoord's 93rd season of play, the club's 45th season in the Eredivisie and its 79th consecutive season in the top flight of Dutch football. It is the first season with new manager Bert van Marwijk who came over from Fortuna Sittard. Feyenoord entered the 2000–01 KNVB Cup in the third round and the 2000–01 UEFA Cup in the 1st round after being eliminated bij Sturm Graz in the 3rd Qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League.

The 2019–20 Eerste Divisie, known as Keuken Kampioen Divisie for sponsorship reasons, was the sixty-fourth season of Eerste Divisie since its establishment in 1955. It began in August 2019 with the first matches of the season and was scheduled to end in May 2020 with the finals of the promotion/relegation play-offs, also involving the 16th-placed team from the 2019–20 Eredivisie. The season was temporarily halted in March 2020, then postponed for several weeks and later abandoned altogether due to the global COVID-19 pandemic and consequent Dutch government decision to disallow all large-scale events until 1 September 2020.

The 2000–01 season was the 51st season in the history of FC Utrecht and the club's 31st consecutive season in the top flight of Dutch football. In addition to the domestic league, FC Utrecht participated in this season's editions of the KNVB Cup.
