Stanley Harold "Stan" Humphries (born August 2,1969) [1] is an American teacher,farmer,and politician. He represented District 1 in the Kentucky State Senate. He was elected in 2012 to succeed fellow Republican Senator Kenneth W. Winters of Murray serving until January 1,2021. He did not seek a third term in the senate in 2020.
Formerly,Humphries served as Judge-Executive of Trigg County,a position to which he was first elected in 2006. He resigned December 31,2012,following his election to the state senate. [2]
Humphries resides in his native Cadiz,Kentucky. He earned his bachelor's degree in education from Murray State University. [3] Humphries and his wife Kim were married on July 24,1993. They have three children,Steven (age 26),Lydia (age 23),and Luke (age 17). [1]

Augustus Owsley Stanley I was an American politician from Kentucky. A member of the Democratic Party,he served as the 38th governor of Kentucky and also represented the state in both the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. From 1903 to 1915,Stanley represented Kentucky's 2nd congressional district in the House of Representatives,where he gained a reputation as a progressive reformer. Beginning in 1904,he called for an antitrust investigation of the American Tobacco Company,claiming they were a monopsony that drove down prices for the tobacco farmers of his district. As a result of his investigation,the Supreme Court of the United States ordered the breakup of the American Tobacco Company in 1911. Stanley also chaired a committee that conducted an antitrust investigation of U.S. Steel,which brought him national acclaim. Many of his ideas were incorporated into the Clayton Antitrust Act.
Henry Cornelius Burnett was an American politician who served as a Confederate States senator from Kentucky from 1862 to 1865. From 1855 to 1861,Burnett served four terms in the United States House of Representatives. A lawyer by profession,Burnett had held only one public office—circuit court clerk—before being elected to Congress. He represented Kentucky's 1st congressional district immediately prior to the Civil War. This district contained the entire Jackson Purchase region of the state,which was more sympathetic to the Confederate cause than any other area of Kentucky. Burnett promised the voters of his district that he would have President Abraham Lincoln arraigned for treason. Unionist newspaper editor George D. Prentice described Burnett as "a big,burly,loud-mouthed fellow who is forever raising points of order and objections,to embarrass the Republicans in the House".
Stanley C. Rosenberg is an American politician who served as President of the Massachusetts Senate from January 2015 until December 2017. Rosenberg was elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 1986 and served as the representative for Amherst and Pelham until 1991 when he won a special election for the State Senate seat being vacated by Congressman John Olver. Edwin Porch Morrow was an American politician,who served as the 40th Governor of Kentucky from 1919 to 1923. He was the only Republican elected to this office between 1907 and 1927. He championed the typical Republican causes of his day,namely equal rights for African-Americans and the use of force to quell violence. Morrow had been schooled in his party's principles by his father,Thomas Z. Morrow,who was its candidate for governor in 1883,and his uncle,William O. Bradley,who was elected governor in 1895. Both men were founding members of the Republican Party in Kentucky.
