Stanley Munga Githunguri was a Kenyan politician.

Early life

He was born on 17 February 1945 in Gachie, Kiambu County and died 30 November 2022. He attended Gacharage primary schools from 1954 to 1957 before going to karura intermediate school.

Education and career

He has a degree in political science and economy from Alaska Methodist university in USA and He is a very prominent business man in Kenya and belongs to the Kenya African National Union and was elected to represent the Kiambaa Constituency in the National Assembly of Kenya since the 2007 Kenyan parliamentary election. [1]

Stanley Githunguri is also a successful business man within the city, owning a number of assets including the Lilian Towers building which consists of a five star hotel and Nakumatt Ridgeways which is located at the border of Kiambu County with Nairobi County. [2]

William Kabogo Gitau is a Kenyan politician. He was the first and former governor of Kiambu County and a member of The National Alliance (TNA), one of the allied parties that merged to form The Jubilee Party.

Ferdinard Ndungu Waititu, also known as Baba Yao, is a Kenyan politician who served as the second governor of Kiambu County from 2016 to January 2020. He was impeached on corruption charges. His troubles started after it was learnt he was involved in a scheme of grabbing land from a widow worth over one million dollars amongst other fraudulent activities. He is currently awaiting trial for the mismanagement of county fund of over five million dollars. He also served as an assistant minister for Water Services and Irrigation in the government of Kenya.

Local elections were held in Kiambu County to elect a Governor and County Assembly on 4 March 2013. Under the new constitution, which was passed in a 2010 referendum, the 2013 general elections were the first in which Governors and members of the County Assemblies for the newly created counties were elected.

Dr. Machel Waikenda is a Kenyan politician and the former State House Director of Political Affairs. He was formerly the executive-committee member in charge of youth affairs, sports, and communications in the county government of Kiambu. Between April 2012 and August 2013, Waikenda was the communications director for The National Alliance, which through a merger with 13 other mainstream parties formed the Jubilee Party that brought the then sitting president Uhuru Kenyatta to his reelection in 2017.

Peninnah Gathoni Muchomba popularly known as Gathoni Wa Mucomba is a Kenyan journalist, entrepreneur and politician. She is the Member of Parliament for Githunguri Constituency in the bicameral Kenyan parliament since 2022 and a member of the ruling party, UDA. She formerly vied and won the Kiambu women representative post in the 2017 General election. Gathoni garnered 922,829 votes from Kiambu county constituents becoming the third highest candidate with the majority votes after President Uhuru Kenyatta and the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
