Kiambu is a town in Kiambu County, Kenya. It is 14 km (8.7 mi) from the national capital, Nairobi. It is the capital of Kiambu County, which bounds the northern border of Nairobi. [2] Other proximate towns are Ruiru, Gatundu, Limuru and Kabete.
Apart from central Kiambu, there are villages such as Ndumberi, Ting'ang'a, Riabai, Kihingo, Ngegu, Kanunga and Kangoya among others. The town's administration is under the County Government of Kiambu, which came into force with the promulgation of Kenya's constitution in 2010. Kiambu is also the centre of Kiambu Town Constituency, an administrative division and electoral constituency of Kiambu subcounty.
The town is a favoured location for real estate development with projects such as Migaa by Home Afrika, Riverside Estate, Edenville Estate, Runda Palm Estate, Runda Paradise 1 Estate, Tatu City, Village of Kenya estate, Hidden Creek Estate of Kenya and Four Ways Junction. [3]
Kiambu Club opened in 1916, is one of the oldest nine-hole golf courses in Kenya. The club also has other facilities like tennis courts and swimming pools. [4] The club's main lounge is in honour of Kenya's first First Lady, also an honorary member of the club, Mama Ngina Kenyatta.
In the outskirts of Kiambu town is Kiambu High School, a nationally recognized boarding school for its performance in academics and sports.
Other high performance schools are ACK St.James Academy inside the town's metropolitan and St.Ann Gichocho [5]
There is also a science college i.e. Kiambu Institute of Science and Technology.
Other upcoming colleges are Pettans Driving and Computer College and Dykaan College
Churches in the town include ACK St.James Cathedral Kiambu, St.Peter and Paul Catholic Church, PCEA Kiambu church, Word of Faith Kiambu Church, AIC Kiambu Church etc.Most of the population in Kiambu are Christians and a small percentage are either Muslims, Massais, Njemps, and Arabs

Ruiru is a municipality and sub-county in Kiambu County, Kenya. It sits within the greater Nairobi Metropolitan region. According to the 2019 national population census, Ruiru was the 4th largest urban centre in Kenya by population. The name Ruiru is of the Kikuyu origin and possibly relates to the black cotton soil that is found in most parts of Ruiru.

The county borders Nairobi and to its south it borders the Tanzanian regions of Arusha and Kilimanjaro. The county capital is Kajiado town but the largest town is Ongata Rongai. Kikuyu is a town in Kiambu County, Kenya, which grew from a settlement of colonial missionaries. The town is located about 20 km (12 mi) northwest of central Nairobi. It is about 20 minutes from Nairobi via a number of routes, including a dual carriage road,the Southern Bypass and has a railway station on the Mombasa – Malaba Railway Line. The town is named after the Kikuyu/Gĩkũyũ people, the major ethnicity that settled in the area. As of 2019, the total population was 323,881.
Nyandarua County is a county in the former Central Province of Kenya, with its capital and largest town being Ol Kalou. Formerly, the capital was Nyahururu, which is now part of Laikipia County. Nyandarua County had a population of 596,268 in 2009 and 638,289 in 2019 and covers an area of 3,304 km2. Githurai is a composition of densely populated, urban, mixed-use settlements located at the border of Nairobi County and Kiambu County along the Thika Road. Githurai is divided into two; Githurai 45 and Githurai 44. Githurai 45 falls under Ruiru Municipality in the Githurai Sub-county of Kiambu County with the boundary being the Thika Road reserve and River Kasarani downstream. Githurai 44 is domiciled in the Kasarani Sub-county of Nairobi County. Githurai 44 neighbours Kahawa West, Zimmerman and Njatha-ini Village.

Membley Estate is an upper middle-class suburb located near Nairobi, in the South-Western Ruiru Municipal area of Kiambu County. The suburb is located a short distance from Kenyatta University, Kamakis and Tatu City some 1.5 Kilometers from the Thika Road. The Membley Baptist, St. Lucia Catholic Church and ACK St Mathew's Membley Churches are found within this locality.
Mwiki is a low-income neighbourhood in the counties of Nairobi and Kiambu. It is approximately 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) northeast of the central business district of Nairobi. Due to its transregional nature, the part of Mwiki that is within Nairobi is referred as Kasarani Mwiki while the other portion domiciled in Kiambu is referred as Githurai Mwiki.
