Star 69 was an English alternative rock band headed by Julie Daniels, who released a single full-length album and a number of EPs in the late 1990s, as well as providing "You Are Here" for the soundtrack to the 1997 movie Trojan War . [1]

History

Star 69 was established in London, England, after recent American transplant Julie Daniels placed an ad in Melody Maker for musicians to form a band. Richard Corden of Creaming Jesus, Patrick "Patch" Hannan of The Sundays, and Patch's friend, the producer Warren Huart, responded to the ad. Star 69's first two EPs were recorded in Patch's recording studio, Blah Street, in 1996 and released by Organic Records. Julie wanted to move back to Los Angeles, but Hannan's position as drummer for The Sundays meant he had to record the album Static & Silence . The band eventually relocated to Los Angeles Hannan was replace by Johnny Haro of Freak of Nature. [2]

Their album, Eating February, was released by MCA Records in the U.S. and by Radioactive Records in the UK in February, 1997. It received a relatively lukewarm response, and the band broke up soon after.

After the group disbanded, Huart then joined Disappointment Incorporated who released an album in 1999 on Time Bomb Recordings. He has since become a successful record producer and musician, and wrote the score to the 2004 documentary film following Joe Strummer, Let's Rock Again! [3] Johnny Haro went on to form The Dreaming, which was active from 2001 to 2018. [4]

The groups song, "I'm Insane", was used by comic book writer Devin Grayson as inspiration while writing Catwoman . [5]

Julie contributed a single "You Should Know" for disc two of the compilation album Acoustic Vol 1, released in February 2002, and has since moved back to the United Kingdom to live with her husband.

D Generation

Peter Kember British musician

Peter Kember, also known by his stage name Sonic Boom, is an English singer and record producer. He was a founding member, bassist, vocalist and guitarist of alternative rock band Spacemen 3, lasting from 1982 until the band's dissolution in 1991.

Lung Leg were a Scottish indie band, formed in 1994 and disbanded in 1999. They were influenced by C86, riot grrrl and the Fire Engines. Singer Jane McKeown is the sister of John McKeown from the Yummy Fur and the two bands often toured together.

David Hungate American musician

William David Hungate is a bass guitarist, producer, and arranger noted as a member of Los Angeles pop-rock band Toto from 1977 to 1982 and rejoining in 2014. Along with most of his Toto bandmates, Hungate did sessions on a number of hit albums of the 1970s, including Boz Scaggs's Silk Degrees and Alice Cooper's From the Inside.

Freak of Nature was an American hard rock band, formed in 1992 by former White Lion lead singer Mike Tramp. The band was formed after White Lion broke up and the follow up was significantly darker and harder than White Lion. The band released three albums and then disbanded in 1996. Following Freak of Nature, Mike Tramp released several solo albums and also reformed White Lion with a new line up.

Warren Huart is the owner of Spitfire Studio in Los Angeles, California as well as a DIY YouTube Channel called "Produce Like a Pro" with nearly 400,000 subscribers worldwide.

Lauren Hoffman is an American singer-songwriter. She released her debut album Megiddo through Virgin Records in 1997 to critical praise. In 1999 Hoffman independently issued her second LP From The Blue House, and an EP entitled A Harmless Little Kiss. Her third album Choreography was released through French record label Fargo Records in 2006, which includes her successful single "Broken." Between 2015 and 2017, Hoffman worked with a new band, The Secret Storm, and released two EPs and a fourth full-length album Family Ghost. Her most recent release, the Mercury Girls EP, was hailed as a "stunner" by Rolling Stone.

The piece was composed by Paul Anka and Johnny Carson, based on a previous composition by Anka. It was performed by The Tonight Show Band, which released an arrangement by Tommy Newsom in 1986 as part of its Grammy Award-winning debut album. The single release also earned a Grammy nomination.
