The story details how the Jedi, led by Ulic Qel-Droma and Nomi Sunrider attempt to free the Empress Teta System from the tyrannical control of evil Dark Side adepts Satal and Aleema. It also details Exar Kun's fall to the Dark Side at the seduction of the spirit of Freedon Nadd, becoming Dark Lord of the Sith with Ulic as his apprentice.

The series is set in the Star Wars galaxy six years before the Battle of Naboo in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, and 38 years before the Battle of Yavin in Episode IV: A New Hope. The story features Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi. A luxury cloud cruiser has slipped out of control and is going to crash over Yorn Skot. The two Jedi must board the runaway ship and regain control.
Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan: Last Stand on Ord Mantell is a three-part comics series written by Ryder Windham, and published by Dark Horse Comics between December 2000 and March 2001. The series is set in the Star Wars galaxy five years before the Battle of Naboo in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, and 37 years before the Battle of Yavin in Episode IV: A New Hope. The story features Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, who are sent into deep space to search for a valuable cargo freighter when it fails to reach its destination on the planet Coruscant.

Star Wars comics have been produced by various comic book publishers since the debut of the 1977 film Star Wars. An eponymous series by Marvel Comics began in 1977 with a six-issue comic adaptation of the film and ran for 107 issues until 1986. Blackthorne Publishing released a three-issue run of 3-D comics from 1987 to 1988. Dark Horse published the limited series Star Wars: Dark Empire in 1991, and ultimately produced over 100 Star Wars titles until 2014, including manga adaptations of the original trilogy of films and the 1999 prequel The Phantom Menace. The Walt Disney Company acquired Marvel in 2009 and Lucasfilm in 2012, and the Star Wars comics license returned to Marvel in 2015. In 2017, IDW Publishing launched the anthology series Star Wars Adventures.

Prominent Sith Lords such as Darth Vader and Darth Sidious have become pop culture icons of tyranny and terror.
Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi is an American comic book series set in the Star Wars universe. The series, published by Dark Horse Comics, is written by John Ostrander, pencilled by Jan Duursema, inked by Dan Parsons, and colored by Wes Dzioba. It is set in the earliest days of the Jedi Order, beginning in 36,453 BBY. A preview issue, #0, was released on February 1, 2012, and followed by the first issue on February 15, 2012. Dawn of the Jedi ended after the third arc, since Marvel Comics acquired the Star Wars comic license in 2015. The miniseries concluded with the last issue Force Wars #5 having been released March 19, 2014.
