Starmap Mobile Alliance was a preferential service agreement signed in February 2004 [1] by a group of European GSM cell phone providers to provide their customers with easier and more economical roaming services and to create synergies when buying equipment. [2]

The main advantages for Starmap customers are no-prefix dialing when abroad (CAMEL roaming), topping-up by vouchers and the availability of MMS picture messaging services and GPRS data access even when roaming.

The original members were (February 2004):

In March 2004, Sonofon of Denmark and in September 2004 O2 of Czech Republic (formerly known as Eurotel ) joined the alliance. [3]

The Starmap Mobile Alliance was the original Idea of the strategy international advidor Mr Arie Guez, president of Fantine Group. The alliance faded after 2009. [4]

Yettel Bulgaria is the largest mobile network and the third largest fixed telecommunications company in Bulgaria. The company was founded under the name "Cosmo Bulgaria Mobile" in 2001 by OTE and operated under the brand name "Globul" until 2014. In 2013 it was bought by Telenor and changed its name. In August 2018, the company was acquired by PPF, a Czech private investment fund. The company continued to use the Telenor brand until 1 March 2022, when it was renamed to Yettel Bulgaria. In February 2024, the company was acquired by e& (Etisalat), and the merger was approved by Bulgaria's competition watchdog. However the branding of Yettel has not yet been changed.

The company was created as a result of the separation of O2 Czech Republic a.s. into two companies, following a decision taken at O2 Czech Republic’s general meeting on 28 April 2015. The actual separation took place on 1 June 2015. CETIN, the new company created alongside O2, now runs the fixed-line access network, the mobile access network and international telecommunication services that were previously run by the combined O2 Czech Republic.
