Major General Nils Stefan Kristiansson (born 25 September 1951) is a retired Swedish Army officer. He served as Director of Military Intelligence and Security from 2007 to 2012.
Kristiansson was born on 25 September 1951 in Saint John Parish (Sankt Johannes församling) in Malmö, Sweden. [1] Kristiansson passed gymnasieexamen in 1974. [2]
Kristiansson graduated from the Military Academy Karlberg in 1976 and was commissioned as an officer in Halland Regiment the same year as a lieutenant, where he served until 1984. He attended school for regimental officers from 1978 to 1979 and was promoted to captain in 1979. He attended the General Course at the Swedish Armed Forces Staff College from 1982 to 1983 and the 1983 UN Military Observer Course and was promoted to major in 1984. From 1984 to 1986, Kristiansson was posted as a UN observer in Kashmir within the framework of the United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP). From 1986 to 1988, he attended the Army's senior staff course at the Swedish Armed Forces Staff College, after which he served in the Operations Section 5 of the Operations Command in the Defence Staff from 1988 to 1989. Kristiansson was posted as company commander in Halland Regiment from 1989 to 1990, office head in the Planning Section in the Army Staff from 1990 to 1994 and office head in the Coordination Section in the Army Command at the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters in 1994. He was promoted to lieutenant colonel in 1993. Kristiansson then served as deputy commander of the Småland Brigade (Smålandsbrigaden) from 1994 to 1995 and became a Överstelöjtnant med särskild tjänsteställning in 1995. He attended the International Training Course in Security Policy at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva from 1995 to 1996, after which he was project manager at the Swedish Army Staff and Communication Center (Arméns lednings- och sambandscentrum, LSC). In 1998 he was promoted to colonel and from 1998 to 2001 he was defence attaché at the embassy in Helsinki and in Tallinn. He was promoted to brigadier general in 2001 and was a military adviser at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs from 2001 to 2003 and head of the Coordination Department at the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters from 2003 to 2004. [2] Kristiansson served as Deputy Director of Military Intelligence and Security from May 2004 to June 2007. In 2007, he was promoted to major general and from June 2007 to 30 September 2012 he served as Director of Military Intelligence and Security and head of the Swedish Military Intelligence and Security Service (MUST). Kristiansson was chairman of the Swedish Pistol Shooting Association (Svenska pistolskytteförbundet) from 2012 to 2020. [5] [6] [7]

The unit has been existing in different forms since 1953. Totalförsvarets skyddscentrum is localised together with Västerbottensgruppen within Umeå Garrison, which is the barracks that previously were used by Västerbotten Regiment.
Lieutenant General Kent Holger Harrskog is a retired Swedish Air Force officer. He was Chief of Air Force Command from 1994 to 1998 and military commander of the Southern Military District from 1998 to 2000.
Vice Admiral Jonas Björnson Haggren is a senior officer in the Swedish Navy. From 1 July 2023, he will serve as Swedish Military Representative to the EU and NATO in Brussels. Prior to that. Haggren served as the Chief of Defence Staff and head of the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters in Stockholm from 2018 to 2022 and as Chief of Policy and Plans Department from 2014 to 2018.
Lieutenant General Karl Eric Holm was a Swedish Army officer. His senior commands include Chief of the Army Staff and the General Staff Corps (1968–1972), military commander of the Southern Military District (1972–1980) and the Chief of Home Guard (1981–1983).
Major General Bo Erik Siwer Waldemarsson is a retired officer of the Swedish Air Force. His senior commands include commanding officer of the Central Air Command and the Central Military District. Waldemarsson also served as the Commandant General in Stockholm for two years.
The Special Forces Command is a command in the Swedish Armed Forces charged with overseeing the various special operations components. Its organized to be able to command operations of Swedish special forces units, but also to be able to develop units, capabilities and equipment. The Special Forces Command is part of the Joint Forces Command.
The Director of Military Intelligence and Security is a three-star role within the Swedish Armed Forces, responsible the Swedish Military Intelligence and Security Service. The Director of Military Intelligence and Security is part of the Defence Board, a group of the Supreme Commander's top commanders. The currect director is Lieutenant General Thomas Nilsson.
Major General Dennis Peder Dag Ohlsson is a retired officer in the Swedish Amphibious Corps. He currently serves in the Royal Court of Sweden as Chief of His Majesty's Military Staff.

Major General Mats Erik Engman is a retired officer in the Swedish Air Force. Engman has served as Deputy Director of Military Intelligence & Security, as Deputy Chief of Policy and Plans Department and as head of the Swedish delegation to the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission (NNSC) in Korea.
Lieutenant General Bengt Arne (Bengt-Arne) Johansson is a retired Swedish Coastal Artillery/Swedish Amphibious Corps officer. His senior commands include Operation Commander/Deputy Chief of the Joint Operations Command (1997–1998), Deputy Chief of the General Training and Management Directorate (1998–2000) and as Chief of the General Training and Management Directorate (2000–2003).
The Southern Military Region is a Swedish military region within the Swedish Armed Forces. Established in 2013, the military region staff in based in Revingeby. The military region includes Skåne County, Blekinge County, Kronoberg County, Jönköping County, Kalmar County and Östergötland County.
Major General Bengt Erik Lennart Andersson was a senior officer in the Swedish Amphibious Corps. Andersson served as head of the Naval Tactical Command (2003–2005), as Deputy Chief of Joint Operations (2007–2008), as Chief of Logistics (2008–2013) and as commanding officer of Nordic Battlegroup 08 and Nordic Battlegroup 15.

Colonel Lars Peter Mikael Hederstedt is a Swedish Army officer, currently serving as commander of the Western Military Region in Skövde since 2018. Hederstedt has a background in the Swedish special forces, and has served within Särskilda Skyddsgruppen (SSG) for 15 years, as deputy commander among other things. Hederstedt then served as the first commander of Särskilda operationsgruppen (SOG). He has also served in various staff positions at the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters in Stockholm and abroad.
Rear Admiral Claes Egmont Tornberg is a retired Swedish Navy officer. He served as Commander-in-Chief of the Coastal Fleet from 1985 and 1990 and as head of the Swedish Armed Forces Staff College from 1990 to 1996 and the newly created Swedish National Defence College from 1997 to 1998.

Lieutenant General Ulf Thomas Nilsson is a Swedish Air Force officer. He currently serves as the Director of Military Intelligence and Security from 1 May 2023. Prior to that Nilsson served as the Chief Information Officer of the Swedish Armed Forces from 2020 to 2022.
Major General Dan Jonny Mattias Lindfors is a Swedish Army officer. Lindfors has served as commander of the Kings Guards Battalion in the Life Guards, of Norrbotten Regiment, and as Assistant Chief of Armed Forces Training & Procurement. He assumed the position of Chief of Army on 18 June 2023.
Major General Mats Håkan Ingemar Welff is a retired Swedish Army officer. Welff began his military career as a second lieutenant in the Swedish Army in 1970 and steadily rose through the ranks. He attended the Swedish Armed Forces Staff College and served in different roles within the military, including commanding the Malmö Brigade and the 1st Nordic Battalion in UNPROFOR in the Balkans. Notably, he commanded the Halland Regiment and Halland Defence District as well as the Southern Army Division. Welff served as the Chief of Home Guard from 2000 to 2002. He retired as a major general in 2002 and subsequently worked as a regional director in the Scania Regional Council from 2002 to 2007.
