The Stein Brewery (Slovak : Pivovar Stein) was a Slovak brewery, based in Bratislava. It was founded between 1871 and 1876 and closed in 2007. Eventually, Stein became the third largest brewery in Czechoslovakia. The brand is still produced by Steiger Brewery in Vyhne, Slovakia.
Beer is an alcoholic beverage produced by the brewing and fermentation of starches from cereal grains—most commonly malted barley, although wheat, maize (corn), rice, and oats are also used. The fermentation of the starch sugars in the wort produces ethanol and carbonation in the beer. Beer is one of the oldest alcoholic drinks in the world, the most widely consumed, and the third most popular drink after water and tea. Most modern beer is brewed with hops, which add bitterness and other flavours and act as a natural preservative and stabilising agent. Other flavouring agents, such as gruit, herbs, or fruits, may be included or used instead of hops. In commercial brewing, natural carbonation is often replaced with forced carbonation.
Shandy is beer or cider mixed with a lemon flavoured beverage, often lemonade, usually half lemonade and half beer or cider, resulting in a lower ABV for the finished drink. Shandies are popular in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Canada.
Staropramen Brewery in the Smíchov district of Prague is the second largest brewery in the Czech Republic. It was founded in 1869 and the brand name Staropramen, literally meaning “old spring”, was registered in 1911. It is owned by Molson Coors and its products are exported to 37 countries, mostly in Europe and North America.

Šariš Brewery is the largest brewery in Slovakia, located in Veľký Šariš near Prešov. Since January 1, 2007, the company Pivovary Topvar has operated in Slovakia, which is the combination of the existing breweries Pivovar Šariš and Topvar. Šariš Brewery was sold to Asahi Breweries of Japan on December 13, 2016. Asahi Breweries owns 100% of the shares of Pivovary Topvar.

The brewery was named Starobrno Brewery only in the second half of the 19th century. In 2009, Starobrno Brewery produced more than one million hectoliters of beer. The same year, the brewery merged with the Royal Brewery of Krušovice and became a part of the Dutch brewing company Heineken N.V.

Ostravar Brewery is a Czech brewery located in the city of Ostrava. Ostravar was founded in 1897 as a joint stock company in Moravská Ostrava, and the first beer here was brewed in 1898. In 1997 the brewery was acquired by Bass, after a merger with the company Pražské pivovary a.s, which also brews Staropramen. It is one of the few Czech breweries which produces a dry stout, branded Kelt.
