Steinar Aadnekvam (born 4 April 1984) is a Norwegian jazz guitarist. [1]
Aadnekvam was born on 4 April 1984 in Bergen. After completing his upper secondary education at Södra Latin, he studied at the Royal College of Music, Stockholm. He has also studied at the Vrindaban Gurukul school with Indian classical flutist Hariprasad Chaurasia.
In 2009, Aadnekvam was nominated for the 'Young Nordic Guitarist Award' by the Uppsala International Guitar Festival, [2] and was a 2010 finalist at the 'Norsk JazzIntro' at Moldejazz. [3] He released his debut album Simple Things (2010) later the same year. [4] The album received critical acclaim from reviewers across multiple countries, [5] [6] [7] and was followed by two collaboration albums Abacaxeiro (2011) and Ecology (2014). [2]
In 2015, Aadnekvam signed for Norwegian label Losen Records, where he released the album Freedoms Tree (2015) together with Deodato Siguir och Rubem Farias, [8] receiving a 4 out of 5 star review in Dagens Nyheter. [9] This was followed by Freedoms Trio (2016) and "Freedoms Trio II" (2018), as well as hundreds of live performances across Europe, Africa, Asia and the US, [10] including concerts at the 2016 Stavanger International Jazz Festival, MaiJazz, [11] the 2018 Jazzahead Festival Overseas Night in Bremen, Germany, and at the NAMM Show 2019 Official Artist Selection in Anaheim, California, USA. Håkon Mjåset Johansen is a Norwegian jazz drummer and composer, known from playing with the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra featuring Chick Corea at Moldejazz 2000, cooperations with Bugge Wesseltoft's New Conceptions of Jazz, Ole Morten Vågan's Motif, Siri Gjære's Cricket Club and the Ola Kvernberg Trio. He has also contributed to releases with Jon Larsen, the Atle Nymo/Frode Nymo Quartet and Jan Garbarek.
Sverre Gjørvad is a Norwegian jazz musician (drums) and composer. He is known for participating in establishing the SoddJazz festival and recording with various notable musicians including Live Maria Roggen, Ståle Storløkken, Mats Eilertsen and Nils-Olav Johansen.
Kirsti Huke is a Norwegian singer, and composer. Huke was best recognized as the lead singer for Norwegian doom metal/experimental band The 3rd and the Mortal in the final line-up.
Knut Riisnæs was a Norwegian jazz musician, arranger, and composer, son of pianist Eline Nygaard Riisnæs and brother of classical pianist Anne Eline Riisnæs (1951–) and jazz saxophonist Odd Riisnæs (1953–). The brothers are both known from a variety of recordings in Norway and internationally.
